Re: High school science credit advice needed
Has anyone ever used these or seen these? How many would I have to add to RTR's regular science scheduled to equal a high school credit. It says 3 workbooks equal a semester. I am trying to decide if I could just add 3 of them to RTR's Earth Science and call that 1 credit high school worthy Earth Sc...

High school science credit advice needed
We are coming back to HOD and plan to finish out high school for our oldest son with HOD. He is currently 7th grade going into 8th grade. He has dysgraphia/dyslexia and we are factoring in the fact that 8th grade right now may be his true 8th grade or we may repeat 8th on paper or go longer for high...

Re: About to give up, and send to PS
I have 2 in public school right now and I would tell you that it isn't a break. Academically the kids are great, sports, band...great...their hearts and confusion over right/wrong is not great. I would tell you to take a break for early summer, deliver the baby, and come back once you are rested and...

Re: Reading Struggles
I have a dysgraphic/dyslexic son. He was not formally diagnosed until 4th grade. He did Montessori Pre-k and public k and struggled. When we brought him home for 1st grade...I tried every phonics program out there. Hooked on Phonics, The Phonics Game, Abeka Phonics, CLP Phonics...you name it...I bou...

Re: Putting My Oldest in School
We have done this with our oldest 2 girls b/c there is literally no options once they turn 14 here for sports, bands, or anything else extracurricular and competitive. It has been overall a great experience, but with the good also comes bad. We have had many conversations that were hard. The world i...

Re: Experiences with NCAA?
I have an athlete here and we researched our options for state sanctioned high school sports before we made the decision for our student to return for high school. We were using World Geography for several months and looked into our options for competitive sports that would increase the likelihood o...

Re: Our days will be too long in WG
I think it does depend on where you are how long classes are normally scheduled and what constitutes a credit. Here they do block scheduling with 4-90 min. classes a semester for a full credit. They get 8 credits a year. Yours sounds similar with 75 min. classes for full credits. I would look at how...

Re: Delaying Beautiful Girlhood?
I guess my question would be about your genetics. If your family goes through changes younger, then I wouldn't want to wait on the study. I had talked to my girls by 10 about all of those things b/c my mother didn't realize that I might go through changes earlier than she did. She thought she had pl...

Re: Foreign Language
Are your children dual citizens? I ask b/c my friend from Belgium can get her children (dual citizens), curriculum from there for free and enroll them in courses b/c of the dual citizenship. It may be something available to you and your kids for your native country and language.

Re: World Geography or American History
I would probably aim to do MTMM and World Geography with the brother. That would be the easiest thing at this level of learning with what you need to cover before graduation. I would fast track 1st half of American History with the What in the World 3 CD's that you would use with Rev2Rev alongside T...

Re: Need help with American Lit in high school
Moby Dick, Huck Finn, Scarlett Letter, and Portrait of a Lady. I wouldn't do more than 4-5 novels alongside the BJU. Also look up Any Novel Study. It is a pdf novel study that is 4 weeks for a novel and can be used with any novel.

Re: How much help to give with questions in BJU Literature
Now, Wyatt is back to reading BJU Lit, which he is really enjoying as well. This ebb and flow between BJU lit and reading classics has been genius. He likes the variety. I have learned NOT to overdo the going over the answers together in the BJU guide though. The teacher's guide has some pretty lon...

Re: How much help to give with questions in BJU Literature
I have tried searching for the post I am thinking of with no luck, but sometime during last year my3sons posted a post about how Wyatt's answers were sometimes right but different than the teacher's guide and all and how she had been looking for exactly what was in the BJU teacher guide. Again, I ha...

Re: Creating Exams for High School guides
So, I guess I never thought much about if there were exams or not. How will they be ready for post secondary exams if they have no practice taking them? I am not stressing my kids ability to take a test or be ready for a test. They did HOD for several years prior to us joining a charter school that...

Re: Checklist - Four guides
I would not do the scripture memory from WH (the high school guide?) with everyone. The passages are much larger and are much more complex concepts I believe. I get that you want to do some things together and all, but I wouldn't try to have my Preparing and Little Hearts kids try to do anything fro...
