Re: State Study and/or Signers?

This was a favorite part of my son's day. It was excellent skills training. My son looked forward to this part of his day, and he would often share what he had learned. This was a successful part of his day. It didn't take long either.

Mole Day

For those in American History high school guide or anyone completing Chemistry, today is Mole Day. It is not too late to celebrate. Not sure what a Mole is go to www.moleday.org. To celebrate we are playing Whack a Mole and figuring out moles of water and moles of anhydrous salts.

Re: Rod and staff question

Poppy, I am on a different schedule if R&S with my son. He will finish R&S 6 by 8th grade, which is a "goal" of HOD. I have found that we are right where God wants us to be. As we complete a R&S lesson we need that knowledge for other writing or something going on in our life. For example, the other...

Re: Our first days in RtR

Wendy, I am glad that you got the first unit done. I have been thinking about your situation. I am not the best at stating things with tact or grace. So here goes. This is meant to be encouraging, loving, and based on experience. Yes I agree about not using labels. In 5th grade I was labeled as mono...

Rumkimon,
I tried to upload to photo bucket. Rather than download a few pictures it wanted to download my 1,000's of pictures. I don't want to give access to all my pictures.:(

Re: curriculum advice please. ..

Curriculum placement is key to successful completion. My daughter is in Preparing now. She is accurately placed. Skills that are needed to make this guide successful are fine motor strength to draw pictures from the Drawing Through History and the science books. Being able to copy Bible verses, para...

Julie, I loved reading about your son Wyatt. I know how hard it is making decisions for high school. I chuckled about your comment about him being a lawyer. After going over the new AH guide I made a comment that this looks wonderful for someone who wants to be a lawyer. Well, Wyatt is going to love...

Re: Question about science in new American guide

I think you would be ok to do the science without the new guide. There is a schedule on the Chemistry website. Nothing extra is added like lab sheets. I have spoken with Dr Wile and he has provided a PDF of review and comprehension questions. These are now on their website. I also found an error on ...

Re: "I'm Bored"

My kids like to go to the library to get nonfiction books. These books are how to make or how to do things-gooey concoctions, knitting, painting, experiments, magic tricks, drawing, detectives, origami, scientist, rock collections, etc. Sometimes they make or do what is in the books and sometimes th...

Preparing is a treat!

I want to thank HOD for making my homeschool days a pleasant treat. My youngest is using Preparing. She loves every aspect of her day. She loves to draw, write, and read. Once again she as been inspired to be a scientist. She dons her lab coat and gloves and gathers her specimen holders and magnifyi...

Re: Renaissance Festival

Our trip to the Renaissance Festival was a great kickoff for our year. It helped to have pre-read all the RTR books so that I knew what topics were addressed for the year. I sought activities that included topics that were included in RTR. For instance, the medallion was a later project. We used rea...

Re: Renaissance Festival

We went to our local Renaissance Festival on educators day when we kicked off RTR, which was 2 years ago. The kids still remember it. It was nice to go on educators day as it was geared to children and education. There wasn't the tasteless entertainment. They learned to print, made a perfume with al...

Re: DITHOR--necessary?

Liz, I am glad you are willing to give DITHOR a try. I have been using DITHOR since 2003. HOD started with just DITHOR, so it is at the heart of HOD. I love that what you are analyzing is a character's behavior. They compare their behavior to a Bible character and the question, "What would Jesus do"...

I am just letting you know I received my order already. The books look wonderful. They look quite "meaty". Gulp, gulp that we can work diligently to successfully complete this year. Super excited to start. My son will be doing a Noble Experiment and Chemistry this year with MTMM. Our co op is doing ...
