Carrie - I know there are "placement" pages

but, really, what grades did you mean each book to be? For example, this year, I found Beyond a great fit for grade two. While I could have used your language and math for grade one for my son, I think the vocabulary in the history would have been a stretch for first grade - especially the use of en...

I have overwhelmingly borrowed them from our library system. I just order them about a month before I need them. Then I keep renewing them. This depends on where you live, of course. The old town I lived in, a whole four miles away, cost a dollar a hold. The new system is free. I have only had a few...

We normally only do HOD three days a week. We don't do it on Wednesday for 30 weeks a year nor on Friday 20 weeks a year. It works just fine AND we usually end up getting to read TWO books of each genre, because we read the books even on the days we don't do the curriculum. We just do extra retellin...

Please forgive a repeat question...

but after scanning through my old posts/threads, I can't find the link I was looking for. In a previous thread I was encouraged to acquire a book with recommended titles in it for reading. [I was expressing in that thread how happy we were with Carrie's selections matching our families convictions a...

We are in Beyond, unit 20. This week we had fun trying to compare ourselves to animals. Stewart could only flap his arms 28 times in 10 seconds, not 700 like the hummingbird. But he really did try! He jumped 4 ft... not 40ft like a kangaroo. Okay - so that isn't earth shattering stuff, but we had an...

I was starting to feel "out" of it. I write in lots of books, especially my beyond. Sometimes it is only a check, but I will also write what we did in place of, as well. BUT - in NY we have to file quarterly reports and it helps a lot to have it written there for when I write the reports. ALTHOUGH -...

it is impossible to do school after co-op here as we don't get home til after 2PM and I work at 3PM. I do do school after CBS, but not a "full day". If we can squeak out math, spelling, reading storytime and CBS work we are doing good. :? CBS seems to exhaust my crew. Part of it is getting up early....

has anyone ever NOT finished an HOD curriculum?

Here is where we are at! We do not do HOD 5 days a week, because we have Community Bible Study one day a week for 30-some weeks of the year and we have Co-Op on Fridays for 10 weeks in the fall and 10 weeks in the winter/spring. MOST weeks we just do three days of HOD, with some time in August and D...

Hi - we are just finishing up a year with a K and a second grader. Add my 3 y.o. dd and 1.y.o dd to the mix and it sounds a bit like your upcoming year. I only did one program. I did Beyond for my second grader. When I assessed the one week examples on line, Beyond fit very well for my second grader...

Excellent! Thank you.
I plan to be there for the "preview" night so I guess I should hightail it over to RR section!
InHisTiming, do you have DITHOR by any chance? ;)

I can not say enough good things about Phonics Pathway by Dolores Hiskes. I know so many people who use it, too. My oldest was reading 1.5 level books by the end of his Kindergarten year, and my current Kindergartener is reading solidly in the 1.0 level, and will probably do well with the next reade...

Question for Carrie

does anyone besides you sell your products? The reason I was asking was I wondered if any vendors at our convention would have the curriculums to look at, side by side, unit by unit sort of thing. Along with DITHOR.

Thanks for answering!
