Ok! I am so glad to read this thread, which I never saw before! I feel so much better and down-right eager to read these books, now! When I see, read "Reddy Fox pages 1 - 4" I was so worried that we'd have a ton of begging to read more. Please know that I have never seen these books and the titles s...

I can pipe in here, to encourage, too, I hope! When I was only schooling my oldest child, we had a much more flexible schedule. This was good, because that year I was pregnant, had a 5y.o., a 3y.o. and an active 1y.o. Flexibility was great. BUT it had a price and Carrie articulated it excellently. M...

ok - thank you! All of the other books in the extension pack are held by my library, so I was thinking if I needed it, I should just order it all at once... but I don't think I will need it for an 8 year old. THANK YOU. I think I need to just order the teacher's books and go from there. I am such a ...

Hi Christy! I can't answer all of your questions, nor do I need to as they have been so well done and these ladies know way more than I do re: HoD. But I can add my two cents for non-HoD items you asked about. I haven't taught any of my kids manuscript. We start right at cursive and love the Cursive...

we have been learning about the fifty states in our friday co-op using a states unit study approach, but by no means mastering state histories! My son has comfortably learned all states' abbreviations and capitals this year - age 7. He knew a *few* in grade one, too. You know what taught him the mos...

oops - sorry netpea! didn't mean to disclude you. Is disclude a word. :p Joyful♥ - isn't it a blessing to be able to homeschool as needed? That we don't exist in an all-or-nothing-vacuum? A friend is taking one child back out of PS next year for grades 6 and 7, while the rest continue in PS. It is s...

one thing to say about Boys and Girls of Colonial Days is that the title of the unit you are on and the Key Idea states in the bottom of each box would make it crystal clear which chapter you are to be reading. For example - when you do the unit "Life in Colonial Philadelphia and Boston" you will ha...

MELANIE - thanks for the info. about the Burgess books, re: more difficult vocabulary. From the titles of the books, I was worried that they sounded very young. I am actually ENCOURAGED that they had more challenging vocabulary words! :D See, when I see - Read Reddy Fox, pp 1 - 4, it sounds [I've no...
