Kids getting older
I just placed my order for next year and I keep thinking.....I can't believe my kids are this old! It is funny how time flies. I am really looking forward to my oldest starting the first high school guide next year.

How did he place on the placement chart? Which levels did he score in for the reading, writing and grammar?

Re: Which curriculum for my 8yo 3rd grader?
I would also recommend Bigger. But can your child read well and do they like to write? If they are really good at reading and writing, then Preparing might be a better fit. Preparing is a bit more independent than Bigger is. And all kids are different. My girls have done their levels on the lowest e...

Re: Switching from Sonlight D, seeking wisdom on placement
I do miss some aspects of having them grouped together for history, but don't miss them being in competition with each other. I felt the exact same way when I switched to HOD. I came from MFW. While I wanted to school all the kids together, it just wasn't a good fit. I love schooling my younger 2 k...

Re: Science question
I don't quite remember how long our days were but I do remember that they days that took some time were the days that my kids built the different machines (7 machines in total). There were several days where they would read through about 5 slides and then do 1 or two experiments. At the end of each ...

Yes - you are correctStephanieU wrote:So for those from States that include physical science in high school for everyone, it is weird for curriculum/families to not include it. For those in States that don't include, it can be odd to include it!

Re: Science question
I looked up your graduation requirements and here is what came up: Science: 3 credits, including Biology, Chemistry or Physics, and a third lab course So you can definitely still use the WG science as is and then do biology and chemistry. I do think that EE and MtMM science both help kids get preppe...

I listened to it and think it sounds great. I wish we would have recorded some things like this and saved them.

Re: Using Beyond and Bigger together?
When I ran Beyond and Preparing together, I had a schedule I put together. I would spend about 1 hr in the morning teaching Beyond and 1 hr in the afternoon. Your 7 year old and 9 year old would have plenty of time to spend keeping the littles busy. You might also look at doing some of it when your ...

Re: Switching from Sonlight D, seeking wisdom on placement
I would also recommend doing Bigger and CtC for your kids. CtC is very independent. Families who have kids that are similarly placed are because kids are only 1 guide different or are similarly placed according to the placement chart. My oldest does her own thing but my son is combine with his young...

Re: Ready for CTC?
What do you do now? Even though I have done CtC before, my younger kids just finished up Preparing last year and started CtC this year. I was thinking they would riot and be frustrated by the increase in level. They didn't even blink! It was a very smooth transition. I would just do the same type of...

Re: Posting how it's going in the high school guides
I just love this thread. A good friend of my mine is done homeschooling and she used HOD for the levels MtMM and WH1 (along with a few resources from WG). She is so sweet because she gifted me all of this material! My oldest dd is LOVING MtMM this year and I recently finally had time to peruse the W...

Re: Little Hearts Question
One thing you could try to do also is to wait to start Bigger until your youngest is in the age range. That way you can then keep them together. I have my two youngest learning together and it is wonderful!
