Scope and Sequence for High School Composition

Hello Carrie, As you are envisioning the high school years have you had a chance to plot out a scope and sequence for high school composition? I see that the World Geography guide will include a research paper. That's exciting! I'm looking at the years beyond and wondering what will be the potential...

Re: Chemistry question for Carrie

Carrie,

I wanted to share with you that I've been in touch with John Suchoki. I feel pretty confident we'll go this route based on my conversations with him this a.m. Instructor accessibility is a real PLUS! I'm a big believer that customer service offsets costs ; )

Re: MTMM or Geography guide

I have had the same challenge and I wrestle with this very question myself, because I don't want my children to miss the content, but they are beyond the level. So here are a few suggestions: 1.). For an older child, you can easily raise the level of rev to rev or mtmm, by adding in higher-level lit...

Re: Chemistry question for Carrie

Carrie, Thank you. I am just exploring how I can maximize resources. As always your thoughts are quite helpful. The son in question is very science ninded and anticipates working toward a 4 year degree in information systems. My son and I both like the looks of Suchoki's Conceptual Chemistry. And th...

Re: Chemistry question for Carrie

Carrie, Thank you for taking the time to reply. Your comments along with the other posts are very helpful to us as we discern. As I've been researching I've noticed that quite a few people outside of HOD have used the Integrated Chemistry and Physics over a 2 year period with 2 labs to earn a credit...

Re: Back To The Drawing Board, Please Help

One of my homeschooling friends has a curriculum she really likes to use and she and another homeschooler whose children are one to two years younger buy each year's curriculum together and split the costs. when one is done they pass it on to the next one and they take super good care. They obviousl...

Re: Sneak Peeks: New World Geography Guide

I know you're not finished with sneak peeks yet, but I'm curious if Health is going to be covered within the guide book? Thank you again for all your family does! HOD has been such a blessing for our family :D - Katy S. Katy S. Carrie has mentioned that health will be in the World History guide wit...

Re: Sneak Peek #1: New World Geography Guide

Carrie, I spent some time this afternoon reading as much of Tiner's IPC text as I could find. I. love. it! What a fantastic text. However, the IPC lab makes me a llittle nervous. Although my 14 yo is currently in pre-algebra and will be beginning Algebra 1 when he begins his Freshman science it is n...

Carrie,

I may have missed seeing this, but are you thinking this will be 4 days a week for 30 minutes?

Re: A Noble Experiment

Hi Brandi,

That's very helpful. I had the impression that Carrie spent less time each week/session and worked on it the entire year. That's the route I would like to go.

Any idea how long each session is when you use the 16 week plan?

Re: Another high school placement question

Florence, I'll just pop-in to clarify that I meant the literature portion would be more able to be used as written in the World Geography guide if the child reached that guide while still in 9th or 10h grade. Using the BJU 9th grade Foundations in Literature scheduled in the World Geography with a ...

A Noble Experiment

I like Carrie's idea of using this book to provide credit for govt. with Rev to Rev. http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=11256&p=81762&hilit=a+noble+experiment#p81757 For those of you who have gone this route are you using just the book or other resources, as well. Re: Another high school placement question

With all of this in mind, I see several possible options. One would be to do Rev2Rev with DITHR 7/8, Exciting World of Creative Writing, and Rod and Staff English (adding government to the program) and using the advanced science. Then, the following year she would move into MTMM and either beef up ...

Re: Combine 12 and 14 yo in Rev To Rev or RTR or?

Well, I'm not done thinking this through. I just spent the bulk of the afternoon reading through all of the plans for the Geography guide, along with the placement chart. It looks to me like he could easily handle MTMM or the Geography guide. I do need to continue to work with both of the boys toget...

Re: Sneak Peeks: New World Geography Guide

Carrie, Does this summary look correct for the subject areas for the Geography guide? All times are approximate: world religion - 30 min/ 4 days a week world geography - 60 min. 4 days a week English - grammar, copywork, writing, literature - 60 min., 4 days a week Devotional reading - 30 min. 1 day...
