Starting HOD tomorrow!
Okay, here's where the rubber meets the road. We have our HOD now and we start tomorrow. 2 in Bigger, 1 in Little Hearts, 1 in Little Hands and 1 high schooler doing CtC. I'm really excited. It will be interesting figuring out the schedule. :) Thanks for all of your posts, I've been reading and read...

Re: singapore placement for older child/remedial
Thanks girls! I'll keep her where she is and maybe spend a little time working on some things with her as far as the word problem issue. I'm glad you said not to switch, I was dreading the double time thing like you said Julie.

Re: R&S Worksheets
I like the worksheets. They do not add a lot of work and are good extra practice. They only go with a few lessons. We do a lot orally as well, but I have started having my daughter do a little more writing than I did because I noticed that it shows a little more whether she really knows it. I though...

singapore placement for older child/remedial
Okay. I have a dilemma. I have a 14 yo adopted daughter who is very behind academically. (she's been here 5 years now, but is having a hard time) She's been doing Math 4 of Teaching Textbooks and doing okay with it, but I know that she doesn't really understand things, can't do the word problems, et...

Re: DITHR books same as books in read-aloud pkg?
Thanks Patty. I ordered my stuff already and as I was reading old posts, it dawned on me that I was thinking that the extensions and read-alouds were enough. I forgot about the DITHR. I need to look at posts about books for literature study for high schoolers and pick I guess. Oops, I thought I was ...

DITHR books same as books in read-aloud pkg?
For CTC, what books do I use for DITHR? Is it a separate pack than all of the sets on the page for CTC books to purchase?

Re: Write with the best in CTC- 1 & 2?
I so appreciate that advice. I'm definitely going to double time Write with the Best. I think I might as well do the IYW II just in case HOD uses the WWTB Vol. 2 later. It sure couldn't hurt. I hadn't heard of that other one. I'm so ready to get started. I'll be home next Wednesday and all of my lov...

Re: Starting CTC 1/2 way through from another program
Yes I will share! I actually got a box on Friday with some of the manuals to look at. They are just as fantastic as I thought. I'm going crazy because I have a big box of HOD waiting unopened for me at home. I'm in Florida with my kiddos until next Wednesday. I can't wait to get back. What will be f...

Write with the best in CTC- 1 & 2?
Do the plans for CTC use both volumes of Write with the Best? I saw that you could use both volumes in one year for the older children.

Re: DITHOR 4/5 or 6/7/8
She is 16 and can follow directions very well. She's not behind, but I've noticed in trying to answer some higher level thinking questions she has a very hard time getting out her thoughts and writing things down. We've never really done much writing with her. She's the 4th of my original set of chi...

Re: Starting CTC 1/2 way through from another program
That so helps, you are amazing to find that for me. I was just looking at the sample week again, it looks so incredible. I think she would think it was fun even though she's so old, the drawing, etc. looks great. She could probably do it way faster since she is more advanced. She's been reading old ...

Re: In LHFHG, but want hands on for sing. 1A
Thanks you two. I thought that would be the case, but I didn't want to go crazy. I'm ending up getting almost every guide. :). I think you are right, I'll use it for both of them. We are using another math right now, but it's not that great. Over all of my years of homeschooling I've tried about eve...

In LHFHG, but want hands on for sing. 1A
So, my guy fits well in LHFHG, but he's beyond earlybird math concepts. I like the idea of her hands on activities though. So, should I get Beyond just so I can have her instructions for that? If I do, then what about for the next year in Beyond. My 8.5 year old is the opposite. She places in Bigger...
