New homeschooling law being proposed in Ohio....
Please feel to delete if needed.... There is a new law being proposed concerning homeschooling in Ohio. You can read about it HERE. Then you can go HERE to sign a petition against it. You do not have to be a resident of Ohio to do so, not do you have to be a homeschooler. Please pass along to...

??? about written narrations in CTC
Just wondering if there was a reason that the manual says 5-8 sentences for the written narration? Is that the minimum and the child can write more? Is it the most to try and make them more concise and to the point in their writing? Thanks for any info.

Love the convenience of the boxes....flexibility
If this is out of line please feel free to delete. First let me say that we do our HOD like it is meant to be on a regular basis and as Carrie outlines in the book as I know it is important to skill building. With that said, I am 29 weeks pregnant and for some reason today I have struggled with bein...

Thankful for HOD
Not sure that I am going to make it on tomorrow, so I wanted to go ahead and leave this today. Our family is so thankful for the Austins, Julie, and the HOD curriculum. This is our fourth year using HOD and it has totally changed our homeschool life. Love that there is no more planning, just enjoyin...

Re: Book coming apart
I think HOD stands behind their guides and if you bought it new from them, I would contact them and see what they say. If you bought it used, they won't be able to help you. I would try super glue if nothing else.

Julie, I don't know how I missed this info about your dad. Just wanted to let you know that we are praying for your dad, mom, whole family. Wish I were there to hug you. :( Also I really appreciate your testimony about going half-speed when needed. Our sweet little girl will be here in February and ...

Re: Julie, Carrie, or anyone - Need guidance
I am by no means an expert as I have no child with such issues. I just thought it wouldn't hurt if you added in the English and personally I would let her read other things if she shows an interest. They could just be on top of what you're doing. Mainly wanted to say that I am praying for you to hav...

Re: Off Topic-The Birds and the Bees
We would definitely watch the video first if we were to use it. :) Not sure if the link is allowed, but you can see it HERE if you are interested. My in-laws had a hard copy though that I have borrowed. I still haven't watched it as I have to wait for them to go to bed. :D My ds is mature for his ag...

Off Topic-The Birds and the Bees
So are there any books that you all could suggest to help explain this to your dc? I know HOD uses some books next year, one specifically entitled, "God's Design for My Body" but we don't have it yet and it isn't scheduled until next year. I guess my being pregnant has my ds actually asking about wh...

Re: Is there anything wrong with setting an alarm for my kid
My dc have an alarm clock. We actually set it 30 minutes earlier starting this week. I know everyone here is gracious, so I'll tell you that they get up @ 7 a.m. We are all much happier. The way I see it, I'm raising not children but adults that will one day need to go to work and if they are use to...
