Re: Your opinions, please

Hi Candice, I think your plan sounds really good. We ended up doing something similar last year. Ds was 4.5 when we started LHTH and just loved it! Very quickly, though, he wanted more, but I didn't think he was quite ready for LHFHG. We added K math and Reading Made Easy and a bunch of preschool wo...

Re: O.T. For those of you from colder states...,

Mary, It's all in how acclimated you are to the climate. Here in MN, it was upper 30's this morning and extremely high winds. I had to drag the two little ones back in to the house to put on Fall coats and I went to church with just a fleece. We talked in the car that it was time to start talking ab...

Candice, Behind? We just did this activity yesterday. I thought we were finally catching up. :? Andy remembered the story from last year - LHTH. So I asked him questions about what was going to happen next and he remembered! Thanks Carrie for a program that really sticks!! Andy loved this activity t...

Re: Phonics Program? What do you use?

We are using Reading Made Easy and ds is really liking it. We are on lesson 32. You stated that you were concerned with the decoding symbols, but they have worked great for my son. He knows what each means and can easily read the words. In the last couple of lessons, they are slowly introducing sent...

Re: LHTH - had to share

Way to go Nathan!!

It is fun to watch them do the lessons at home, but it is so exciting when they put it all together outside the realm of "school"!!

How exciting!!

Blessings,
Laurie

Re: Week in Review 8-8-08

Jen and Carrie, Thanks for the replies. We have had to stop completely for right now. My mom has been in the hospital since last Tuesday and I've been with her while my kids are four hours away. Thus, homeschooling has not been happening. When we start up again, we will start slow again and hopefull...

Re: Supply list for LHTH?

Amber, I'm a huge list maker!! Last year I started out making a list each week of everything needed for that week. Looking back, I spent WAY to much time on this. By about week 5, I finally admitted that LHTH is truly open and go! This is assuming you have various things already around (constuction ...

DITHOR with an 8th grader

Life just keeps throwing me curve balls. I had next year all ready to go for ds(5) to use LHFHG in the fall. I was ready to enjoy the summer. We were all settled to keep dd(13yo) in private school again when tuition and gas prices skyrocketed. There is just no way to keep her there so we began talki...

LHTH is so wonderful!!

Almost every Sunday we go to my in-laws for Sunday dinner. When everyone comes there are 23 of us. Last Sunday, my husband over heard ds(5) talking to older cousin(17). My little one told him the WHOLE salvation story! From Adam and Eve, many stories "that already happened" to Jesus being born, why ...

Annegirl, We are planning to do it over 2 years, but like pp are doing, we'll be playing it by ear. We're slightly ahead with phonics and math (we started them and got to a point where he wasn't ready and stopped) so I'm thinking we will alternate them and haven't figured out how we will do the rest...
