Preparing Unit 3 Cave Painting

Here is my son with his cave painting! It turned out great! He wouldn't let me see it until it was completely done, he hid it in a cabinet in his room and had the "unveiling" Friday night after supper for the entire family! We all thought it was great. He did a saber tooth tiger and a woolly mammoth...

Re: ? about Preparing Cave painting unit 3

Thanks Julie! We used the brown. He painted the first animal on it today, but he won't let me see it -- he says it's going to be a surprise.... :| I don't know if that's a good thing or not....

I'll post an update when he's done. :)

Re: Mystery of History

Yes, that helps alot! I'm so glad to hear MOH 3 is much different from Vol. 1. I didn't like the writing style, though I personally know many moms who have used MOH 1 and loved it.

Thank you for explaining.

? about Preparing Cave painting unit 3

The Guide says to use a paper bag. I have 2 paper grocery bags, one is brown and one is white. Is it best to use a brown paper bag or a white paper bag? Or does it not matter. I suppose the brown one would make a darker brown paper after being dipped in the coffee water than the white bag.

Thanks!

Re: Week in Review 5/31 - 6/04

Thank you, psreit, Carrie, and spidermansmum! How sweet to share this with all of you!

I'll post more as she moves along with Emerging Readers. She still has some trouble with remembering some words even though she's read them before. I hope this will improve with reading the words more and more.

Re: Do you have a laminator?

I have a small laminator (8.5x11) I purchased for a good price at walmart a few years ago (Before I even knew about HOD). We have used the laminator for my kids drawings or art things. They are always coming up with ideas. Sometimes they have made their own "ID cards" or placemats or wanted to lamin...

Re: Mystery of History

In the old thread that was linked, Carrie wrote: "While I do believe that MOH is a wonderful history option, to me it does not feel as living as quite a few of the other history "spines" we've used at our house. At times the flow of MOH can even feel somewhat textbookish. Each volume of MOH is also ...

Re: Organization tips for Preparing

We just started Preparing a couple of weeks ago. I like the idea of having most everything in one place, so we are using a big 3-ring binder for most everything. I got him the style that has a nice zipper type cover on it. My son likes gadget-type things, so he likes that. His favorite color is red,...

Re: Family Time Bible

I completely understand this issue with the Family Time Bible and I can feel your concern! I think it definately depends on the child. If your child is sensitive (I have one like that), I would use a different Bible. I used Family Time Bible a few years ago with another curriculum (Before I ev...

Re: How to do the Bigger Spelling Review???

Julie, Thanks for mentioning about the spelling activities in the boxes in the Bigger guide. I have been doing those with my dd. They are great and have helped her alot. She does it just as the directions in the box tell me. Once, we were doing the word "send". She read the word as I had written it ...

Re: How to do the Bigger Spelling Review???

Oh, Thanks! I flipped over to unit 7 in the guide, and I see the instructions there. We are ahead of the guide on the spelling list. Thanks for letting me know. What a big help. This will make the review so easy! :D

How to do the Bigger Spelling Review???

My 9yo dd is doing well working through the Bigger spelling list, it has been right on target for her abilities. We are coming up on Unit 7, which is a review. I'm looking for ideas on how to do the review. Should I call out all the words from units 1-6 and let her write them on her small white boar...

Re: Bible Dictionary?

Awesome! Sounds like that is the one I need to get then. (I re-read the posts above and now see it was mentioned that it used the KJV! Sorry I didn't notice that before.... )
