Re: Storytime with kids in multiple books
I have tried reading at lunch, but usually while I'm eating too...and that obviously just doesn't work well! We try to have lunch as a family when my husband comes home on his break, so I'm not thrilled with the idea of foregoing family lunch. My oldest 2 really enjoy me reading aloud to them, and w...

Storytime with kids in multiple books
As I'm preparing a schedule for this year, I'm overhwelmed as my kids get older and I have more to teach! I have 2 that will be in Res To Ref. I have one that is beginning Bigger and one that is in Little Hearts (plus a 3 year old). All 3 guides have storytime...and I just don't see any way I...

Re: RTR and Shakespeare or not??
Lora Beth, do you mean you'd recommend putting the Shakespeare notebook pages in the same binder as the History notebook pages? I'm also compiling a list of all supplies I need.

Re: Res to Ref -- which English for dd who didn't do CTC
Hi Jennifer, I don't have a clear cut answer for you, but the way we've done Rod & Staff with CTC and now RtR is first half of English 4 for 5th grade and second half for 6th grade (though we did CTC for 5th and RtR for 6th). Then English 5 will be for 7th grade and English 6 HOD recommends completi...

Re: DITHOR 6/7/8 question
We have done all the DITHOR books already, so he is ready for the 6/7/8 book...just curious I guess if it's truly spread out over 3 years? And if I will need more than one book pack to complete the 6/7/8 book? Thanks!

DITHOR 6/7/8 question
I am full of questions as I get ready to order! I am ordering DITHOR 6/7/8 for my 6th grade son. Is that book really used over 3 years...for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade? I need to order him a new book pack this year. I'm trying to decide if I should order the 6/7 book pack or the 7/8 book pack, as he's ...

RTR and Shakespeare or not??
Hi ladies, I'm getting ready to order books for this next year and I'm trying to decide whether to go with Shakespeare or not in RTR. I remember seeing a link somewhere to reasons why HOD chose to include Shakespeare, but I can't seem to find it or remember where I saw it...anyone know? Also, just s...

Re: Placement for 1st, 4th & 7th
Hi! We have been using HOD for 6 years, and our family has been so blessed by it!!! It is wonderful for me because all of my plans are laid out for me, and I am certain I have all my bases covered. My kids have learned so much, have grown so independent in their work, and are amazing readers and lea...

Re: What do use in place of handwriting in LHFHG
Thank you ladies!!! It's funny how you overlook things and need outside perspective sometimes to open your eyes to something in front of you every day! :D As many years as I've used this guide, I didn't notice there was both a Kindergarten option for handwriting and a 1st grade option! I guess I'd n...

What do use in place of handwriting in LHFHG
My 5 year old was determined to "do school" this last school year. She didn't turn 5 until mid-September, and with 3 older kiddos, we focused on math (she did both Kindergarten books), the Do It Carefully books, Handwriting, and Phonics. We did some of the History and Science in the beginning, but s...
