comprehension issues.....

Hi all! It has been awhile since I posted here.....we have just been plugging along slowly. <sigh> I see so many folks just whizzing though these guides in a year and I keep wishing we could. I was so hoping to keep my son on track (started preparing in the fall), but he just could not seem to keep ...

Re: Week In Review May 8 - 12

It has been a LONG time since I posted anything here.... My 15 year old daughter is almost done with Res to Ref....it has been almost 2 years, but she has learned so much. (special needs) She still struggles with narrations (both oral and written ) but can now do them...and list more than who it was...

Re: Placement for special needs high school

My daughter (age 15 and 9th/10th grade...she has expressive/receptive language disorder and is mildly autistic...she has very low reading comprehension) has been doing R2R fro the past 2 years. we have been going slow but are now almost up to full speed (she started fall 2015). We are on unit 28 now...

math help ... for a child who can't do math!

I am looking for a new curriculum for my 11 year old son. He used ACE this year and has 1.5 books left before he is done with the 2nd grade level (about 2 weeks left in the books??). I do not feel that ACE is the best curriculum for him but used it as he could do it by himself and I did not have tha...

Re: Placement help

I would place the 9 year old where he fits on the placement chart (Bigger or Preparing....my current 10 year old is doing Preparing this year and it is just right for him). Like someone else said, I would place both the 5 year old and the 7 year old together in Little Hearts. You will have to do the...

Re: 2 Q's: testing and calculators

My oldest is in college this year. Last year she took 1 online college course each semester and there the tests were open book. Those 2 courses help prepare her for this year and she is doing well so far.....maintaining a B+ average at this point. Other than that she did not have tests other than in...

Re: Prayers for my son in Preparing

Thanks Daneale. Unfortunately, they were not able to do the bone graph, so he will have that surgery sometime in the spring now (and another week off of school). He is liking that he got this week off of school. We did read his history yesterday, but he claims is was just fun reading and not schoolw...

Re: Science narrations

My daughter is just the opposite....she can do the science ones with much more ease than history ones.....she is much more interested in science than history so I think that is the reason why.

Prayers for my son in Preparing

Morning all, Thus far our starting of the year has been a little rough as I am trying to figure out a schedule that works for us. We are going 1/2 speed right now as I try to figure it all out (my son could go full speed but needs me and I have one in Beyond and R2R as well). Anyway, we are currentl...

Level 3 is a good basic grammar. My 10 year old son is using level 3 this year.

Re: Placement Advice

HI, It sounds like your placement is good. :) Your older daughter is above the level of my 10 year old son and he is doing preparing this year (he did bigger last year). I agree it is also a good idea to start off at half speed with preparing (and add cursive) till you think she is ready to go full ...

Re: Suggestions for starting out K & PreK w/ 6yr old & 4 yr

As you see you will find different people with different opinions. I am with Stephanie. I personally use LHFHG as a 1st grade curriculum (and if you use HOD all the way though there are 11 other guides after LHFHG). I would recommend using LHTH for Kinder and then you little one can join in.....and ...

Re: Week in review August 29-September 2, 2016

Glad to see this up again!! We had our first week of school last week (we did a 4 days week due to me having to clean out my college age daughter's room). My 8 year old started Beyond and is enjoying it so far. We completed 3 days last week. My 10 year old is loving the science and Independent study...
