Science Decisions for the Next Guide?

Hi All,

Just wondering if Carrie has made any decisions about the science for the next guide yet. I hope I haven't missed it if so. The spines for the history portion look great! I really like the incorporation of world history events. :D

Re: Teaching Worldview - Carrie's Thoughts?

Thank you, Motherjoy and Carrie for your replies! I agree it has to be lived but I want to make sure I discuss certain things that are so crucial in a post-modern world :D . I am looking forward to reading UTT for myself, too, Motherjoy! I am really excited that Carrie is thinking of incorporating a...

Teaching Worldview - Carrie's Thoughts?

Hi All, I have been thinking about teaching worldview in the coming years and wonder what Carrie's thoughts are on this. Would she recommend a formal program and at what grade? Lightbearers is for junior high and Understanding the Times and Starting Points are for high school but what approach does ...

Dictation - What levels in RTR and future guides?

Hi All,

Just wondering what levels of dictation are used in the RTR guide and if dictation will be included in the Age of Exploration and Modern Times guides as well?

Thanks and blessings,

Re: RTR notebooking pages?

These sound like wonderful notebooking pages, Carrie! I have been looking forward to using Lamb's Tales from Shakespeare and would be pleased to pay for the main pages and the optional one. We love the CTC pages and they will be something to keep for posterity! :D

Re: IF you do seperate programs, then...

Hi Allison, I am using Preparing and CTC this year with my two sons. I chose to read aloud the storytime titles that go with Preparing to both of them. They were such great books that we hadn't previously read that I didn't want my older to miss out on. Also, I chose the Preparing books so my younge...

Re: Research in Preparing

Hi there, I just wanted to mention that we picked up a set of 1977 Encyclopedia Britannica last year for $20. It has the Junior Brittanica set with it as well and we have found that set (the Junior) just perfect for answering all the research questions in Preparing thus far. They seem to be well wri...

Re: Rewriting Written narrations??? -Thanks Daisy!

Hi Ladies, This has really helped me! Daisy, specifically, can you tell me if you use that progression over time or through one week? I mean, do you do it: step one (orally/typed) until this is easy (maybe several weeks) and then move on to step two, etc.? Or are all three steps done on one narratio...

Comma Usage in Dictation Passages - Inconsistent?

Hello Ladies, I am hugely impressed with the dictation included in the Preparing and Creation to Christ guides and we are loving HOD! I am not a grammar "guru" by any means but have noticed that comma usage seems to vary or not be what I would expect in some passages. For example, in the Preparing g...

Hi There Everyone, I have completed my first week of CTC and Preparing :D ! My older son is already asking "Am I going to use Heart of Dakota for next year and the year after that and...because I hope so!" We are having a great time and this has been the most enjoyable homeschool experience I have h...

Re: Testing in curriculum - HOD/CM approach to this? Start when?

Hello Ladies, Thank you, Julie, for such a detailed response. I am breathing a sigh of relief. I was considering making up quarter tests for the science (gasp!!!) as a place to start and now I don't have to do it! I am looking forward to putting all the CM methods in place this year as we begin CTC ...
