Re: Do I have an old edition of LHTH?
Or, my version has the older books listed throughout the TM, but at the front of the manual is a list of the pages that go with the ABC Bible Verse Book, and The New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes. So, if you haven't checked the front of the manual....try that.

Re: Half speed except for English and Math in RtR???
LynnH ~ There are no physical limitations to his writing. He just doesn't LIKE to do it. :( I also do not think that he has trouble with the reading. I am certain that it is a character problem. I will answer your questions with the same numbers you used. 1. I do Boyhood and Beyond with him as...

Half speed except for English and Math in RtR???
This is my first year using HOD, and I love it! I have one in LHTH, one in Preparing and one in RtR. We are using the guides mostly as written. I do use a different math, but that is about it. I am struggling with my 8th grader who is in RtR. He is VERY CAPABLE of the work, but does not like it, is ...

Re: strong willed children
I'm enjoying this post as I have 2 that are definitely strong willed and 1 that is learning from the other 2. I've read a ton of books, and still struggle. :? One of mine is now almost 14 and sometimes I feel it is too late for him. He is bigger than me now, and really is "in control" as I do...

Re: Starting 3 Levels for the 1st Time Tomorrow!
Thanks ladies! The first day went pretty well. I'm sure we will be working on schedule adjustments for a little while, but overall, it was good. The 2nd day we had issues with my son (he's in RtR). He was being very disrespectful and had a bad attitude. But, I'm hoping today he will be back on...

Starting 3 Levels for the 1st Time Tomorrow!
I will be starting LHTH, Preparing, and Resurrection to Reformation tomorrow for the first time! :D I'm excited, but a bit nervous, too, since this will be my first time completely splitting up all my kids! I believe it will be the best for them, though. I am also using the workbox system and think ...

Re: How do I set up a notebook for Preparing?
I am new to HOD and will be starting Preparing soon, too, so have been wondering the same thing. When I've looked through the guide, it seems I will need a composition book with lines at times, another with half lines half blank, and also a blank composition book (no lines)...and all of these for on...

Re: ROLL CALL!! :) Who's starting RTR soon?
We are new to HOD this year, but will be starting RTR with my 8th grade son end of the month or beginning of September...haven't decided yet, but we are very excited! :D I just have to get myself and homeschool area organized and we'll be ready to go! I'm a little concerned...only because this is ou...

Re: Has your children's faith growen and strengthened?
As someone who has not yet begun using HOD for all my dear children, and will be using it for all 3 beginning mid-August, I am greatly encouraged by this thread. I have felt led to HOD for many reasons, but the more I read posts like this, the more excited I get. Thanks for the wonderful question an...

Re: OT - do you MAKE your children tithe?
We also direct our children to tithe (once they have a job). My younger children do not do this yet, because they do not make any money (besides gifts they receive and we do not have them tithe on the gifts). My son (13), though, mows lawns. He started last spring and we set up an account for him. T...

Re: Burnout on a deep level, with parenting
Wow! It's been really good to read these posts. I have been challenged and encouraged through them, as I, too, have struggled with feeling many of the same things that have already been mentioned. I so agree with the posts about satan stealing our joy. He also steals our thoughts and turns them to t...

Re: RTR: Time Allotments
Thanks Carrie!
I think this will help me to have my ds shoot for the time allotments, too. Especially being new to HOD it may take us a bit to get used to, so it's good to see approximate times and have a goal in mind!

Re: Be honest- am I doing my oldest a disservice by combining?
I had a very similar discussion with Carrie and Julie for my 2 older children. Originally I was going to put both my 10 year old (5th grader) and my 13 year old (8th grader) into RtR this fall. But, I just did not have a peace about it! :( I kept asking lots of questions on this message board, and f...

Re: Before HOD, Weekly Lesson Plans, but now what?
Oh, golly, Julie! I know you are right, I am just a control freak, and I also want the guides to stay nice for resale. I cannot keep them for my next dear children, or else I would not be able to afford to buy the next levels. (Especially since they are 3 and 6 years apart!) I want them to ult...

Before HOD, Weekly Lesson Plans, but now what?
Before I found HOD, I wrote up weekly lesson plans for each of my children, kept one copy for myself and gave another copy to them, so that they would know what to do even when I'm not at home (I work part-time as a school bus driver). This kept us all accountable to making sure we were getting ever...
