Re: Anyone do Bigger in 4 days??

I don't usually like to spill the unit over into another week, either. But, I'm trying to let go of that.

Re: Anyone do Bigger in 4 days??

We are actually just getting ready to start Bigger in January. My plan is to take the first 6 units at half pace and see where we are at. If all is good, then we are going to do 4 days a week until we are finished. I will just keep everything as is.... no doubling up on the 4th day.

Re: Do you rip out the workbook pages?

We rip out the handwriting sheets too, but leave the Rod and Staff workbooks.

Re: LHFHG for Kindergarten?

I think it really just depends on the child. I used LHFHG when my dds were 4.5 and 5.5, and took a year and a half to finish. They didn't understand the history in the beginning.... just learned to sit and listen. But, they grew more into it as time went on, and learned to enjoy the Burgess books, a...

Re: Not sure....

Thought of another question... I would like to do the Do It Carefully books and Finding the Answers for Kindergarten. Then, half way through LHFHG, in which he would be 1st grade... I would like to incorporate the Thinking Skills Grade 1 book. Do you think this is manageable? He likes workbooks, just...

Re: Not sure....

Thank you for all the ideas! Julie, since Abraham will be 6, what is your recommendation for him and math, then? Going half speed for the first year and speed up the 2nd? Or just keep it at half speed? I do think going half speed with him for LHFHG would be good, taking 2 years to get through. I thi...

Re: Not sure....

Julie, Would you do the left side one day and the right side the next, or would you do certain things every day? How slow should I take TRL? Have you used ETC books with TRL? He really likes workbooks, so I'm wondering if those wouldn't help him some. But, not sure how they coralate with TRL. I thin...

HOD and nature studies?

Do any of you do nature studies and walks along with HOD? How do you incorporate it into your regular school days? I really want to do this along with HOD, but not sure when to do this or how.

Thanks so much,

Re: Not sure....

Thanks! I'm leaning more on going half speed with LHFHG, but not sure yet. I may wait until 1st grade to start too, and focus more on just phonics. I guess my concern is that we have gone through LHTH, watched the Leap Frog and he's still not getting it. I'm not expecting him to read yet, but to may...

Not sure....

Well, we have been going fairly strong with Beyond with my dgs, but come August I will have added another dc to the school mix.:) That makes me so nervous! I don't like to compare my children and their abilities, but my girls were very easy to teach to read, using TRL. I have opened it with my son, ...

Re: Magic Tree House Books???

[quote="mrsrandolph"]The Bible also tells us undoubtedly to avoid any association with the occult, and that would include reading books that make it look harmless (ie Twilight). When we place our minds on things above, and not on earthly things, what are we going to spend out time reading? just some...

Re: Magic Tree House Books???

Thanks you! :D

I really want wholesome books for my children, and don't want to have to worry about anything questionable in them. Thank you, Carrie for already going through and picking such wonderful books for our kids!..... Know I guess I better get that book list! :)
