Re: Biblical Worldview credit

I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist is supposed to be fantastic and would give you the 1 credit you are looking for. I think you could do it without purchasing the guide, but not sure since I have it here, but won't use it until this coming year.

Re: Biblical Worldview credit

I wouldn't consider the bible portion in WH to be Biblical Worldview. Is there any way you could do the Bible portion of US2. I would think I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist would fit that wonderfully.

Re: Book of Centuries A Must Have?

I don't think I would get it for the 12th grader, but if you plan on the 10th grader doing the 2 AH guides then I would get it. It is nice to see how things from WH coincide with the American History things and makes a nice keepsake.

Re: Veteran HODer Freaking Out!

I think it's pretty common for a boy to prefer non-fiction, however that doesn't mean they shouldn't be made to read fiction. I would stop trying to read it animatedly and make it interesting for him. I would have him read it himself, do things as assigned in the guides and move on. He is going to r...

Re: High school courses

Yes you could have your senior do the World History guide. You can sub in whatever science she needs as well as go with whatever level of math she is at. Also just to clarify there aren't extensions for the high school guides.

Re: Preparing a High School Plan

If you're not sure if he is ready for WG then I definitely wouldn't go with WH. That is a more challenging guide as it is written for 10th grade and builds on skills from WG. The writing program used in WG, EIW, is a fantastic program that starts with sentences and how to write good solid sentences,...

Re: MOH IV in US2

In the beginning she jumps around a bit to pick up a few things such as Darwin, some things with Canada, the Wright brothers etc that are earlier in MOH, but aren't discussed in America Last Best Hope vol 1 or 2, so it's hard to say what the first lesson is. It gets more consistent once you get to p...

Re: hobgoblins?

This is definitely not something the books in HOD promote. We didn't do that guide and I can't think of anything where there were witches etc. In fact Carrie avoids things like Greek Mythology as much as possible and there is no official study of Greek Myths. They are mentioned some in Preparing, bu...

Re: US1 confusion on narrations

There are written narrations every week on day 4 in the history box. Those are highlighted, key word, summary, topic, detailed, opinion and typed. These vary in length depending on what type of narration they are. For example the summary narration is only 3 paragraphs whereas the detailed and opinio...

Re: To move up?

I would assess at the end of July or beginning of August and see what week she is on and how well she is doing with the guide. If she is doing everything as written in the guide in a timely manner, and doing it easily then you could consider moving her up. If she is struggling at all with anything t...

Re: High School Science Labs

Your husband is right, my son thinks they are the fun part! My dh actually does them with my son either at night or on the weekends and this has worked out well. He is an Environmental Engineer so he has been able to give him real world applications for many of the labs and he brings an enthusiasm t...

Re: High School Science Labs

First of all I am really surprised your state only requires one year of lab. Ours requires 3. Just as a heads up I would make sure any colleges that your child is looking at don't require more. Even colleges in your state may require more. I know every college my DD looked at required 2-3 of lab sci...

HOD and homeschooling through challenging seasons

I just wanted to take a minute to say I am so thankful for HOD this year. I have been thankful for it every year, but this year even more so. My ds suffered a concussion on Feb 1st and he is still dealing with constant headaches. He has just started a medicine we hope will help. We had to take a few...

Re: Can A Kid Who is bad at Math go to college?

It depends on what he wants to major in. If we wants to be a STEM major then probably not. However there are plenty of other majors that don't require math skills. I would look at the community college route to start with. They often do their own testing and don't require the ACT. The one here does ...
