Re: Why are there high school history books in CTC?
The history reading in CTC can be a challenge especially if a dc hasn't been accustomed to reading older style books. I don't think the books were chosen to challenge the dc with their reading level but were chosen because they are excellent living books on the time period. I think most of the child...

Re: Foerster's Algebra I question
I can't help with your ordering question, but I can with the signature line. At the top, left of the board under board index, you will see User Control Panel. Click on that. Once you are there look at the tabs and choose Profile. Under profile there is a link to edit signature. Hopefully that will g...

Re: Help! How to use dithor w 2 levels
It is tough when you are coordinating with one that is done 5 days a week and one that is 3 days a week. In looking at your signature and seeing that your level 2/3 is just 7 years old, I think I would just do DITHOR with the worksheets 3 days a week and cover it more slowly. Seven is about the youn...

Re: ? about independent reading in CTC
I had every intention of reading ahead last year when we started CTC, but it just didn't happen. Like Lora Beth said, I could tell from their narrations, notebooking, etc. if they understood the material. For research, I would usually do a quick search to check out the research answers. If I ...

Re: Ugh! I guess we won't be starting yet!
That is horrible! I am so sorry that your ds is injured. I pray he recovers quickly. I know it's difficult when you are all excited to start school and then can't for some reason. Delays can be frustrating but God's timing is always best.

Re: DITHOR Question
You just do DITHR on the days that it is scheduled in your guide(s). So an entire 20 day unit of DITHR will take 6 2/3 week of your Preparing and RTR guide to get through. So you will only get through 5 of the DITHR genres in the year. DITHR is scheduled at a slower pace in the upper guides to balan...

Re: R&S English 3 schedule???
I think what I might do in your case is to do R&S3 at half pace so that you cover half of it this year and the second half next year with Bigger. That way when you get to Preparing you could do R&S4 as scheduled. So you could either do a lesson every other day or do 1/2 a lesson a day. You could wai...

Re: R&S English 3 schedule???
Actually R&S 2 isn't scheduled until Bigger then it is scheduled at one lesson per day with reviews spread out over 2 days and the book is covered in its entirety. Beyond has once a week grammar lessons that are written in the guide. Since we had done those while doing LHFHG, we did R&S2 with Beyond...

Re: Need Placement Help PLEASE
Given her age and the fact that you say that she is ready for more academically, I would probably try to do school everyday, instead of 4 days a week, and finish out Preparing so you can start CTC. You could also do that 5 days a week and cover it more quickly if you wanted. I would definitely want ...

Re: More on Merging
I'm not great on to comment on combining, but my first thought is that 3 years is a pretty big age difference to combine. I suppose if the abilities are similar then it is possible, but how do you think they will do together? Will the 8 year old feel ok having her brother who is 3 years younger in t...

Aww, that is so nice that she loves her school time! LHTH is the one guide we didn't get to do because my dc were too old when we found HOD. I always love hearing how others are enjoying that guide. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Question for emerging reader list for beyond little hear
Hi there! Does the American Pioneers and Patriots book that HOD sells have the enhanced maps and questions or is it just the original? Thank you! It's been a few years since we did this guide and I don't still have this book, but as I recall it does have color pictures/maps and questions at the end...

Hugs Becky! You are having a rough start. Thanks Sara for those tips and encouragement. I found much useful in those words that I think I'll be applying. I just want to encourage you to hang in there. You've had a lot of changes lately with the move and the harder guides. Those things are challengin...

Re: Last day of school!!!
Congratulations on finishing Preparing! I think it is still our favorite guide so far. CTC is fun also and I think you'll enjoy starting that after your break. Good luck on your cross country move. I pray it is a smooth transition for you all and that enjoy NC.
