Re: How much time off during guides?

Also don't forget that there are 35 units, but those units are only 4 days each. So you could borrow some extra time off during the year by doing school 5 days per week instead of just four.

Another option is to school year round. That way you could take off whenever you wanted to without worry. :)

Re: To combine or not combine

I agree... You should put them where they fit on the placement chart. And like someone else said, since your oldest is starting in Bigger, by the time your younger one gets in a guide that actually takes time to teach (Bigger and Preparing) your older one will be doing the vast majority of school in...

Re: Needing help with placement and using multiple guides...

I'm really no help at all when it comes to the high schoolers. The only thing is that maybe you could combine your 11, 12, and 14yo in RtR? There are ways you can make the "middle school" guides work for high school. I don't know them to tell you though :) That would keep your cost down some. As for...

Re: Getting Back on Track?

I agree... why do you say you are behind? Is it just that you are a couple of units away from where you thought you'd be by now?

Re: Organization / How much do you keep?

I take pictures of the projects/art stuff that's too big to put in their binders. I think I have 2" binders for each child for each year Preparing and up, and 1" binders for LHFHG-Bigger. I keep random things from LHTH, but not enough to use a binder for. I also keep all the math and handwriting wor...

Re: About to begin Preparing - question about Deluxe Package

If she did Bigger as written then she'll be ready for Preparing. :) The readings are really short at the beginning and increase in length throughout the year.

Re: Putting My Oldest in School

Thanks for all the prayers. As I said... I honestly don't feel called to homeschool. I homeschool because it's easy and convenient for me. So I'm not just thinking temporally. :) I truly do not feel pulled in any one way by God for their education. Thank you for all the things to think over and the ...

Re: Putting My Oldest in School

She is saved. Sometimes I wonder if homeschooling them has made it too easy, if that makes sense. Sure it's easy to say you believe in Jesus and trust Him if you are pretty much only around Christians. I need to start having her pray specifically for strength and courage while she's at school! Hones...

Re: Putting My Oldest in School

Homeschool kids aren't allowed to play sports in school here yet. There's been a bill on the table for YEARS, but it's not a priority I suppose. There are no homeschool groups within 30 minutes of here that do competitive basketball. For competitive basketball within 30 minutes of here there ...

Putting My Oldest in School

We've finally decided that we are going to start the process of putting Jayden in school. The main reason is for sports. She's very athletic and good at sports, and wants to possibly go on to play sports in college. We just can't figure out a way to get her in a competitive basketball (her favorite)...

I was also going to ask if you were sure he was using his dominant hand. Since with my kids, if they are writing with their non-dominant hand (I have all girls... they like to do that for fun haha), it is exactly how you said it, clumsy looking. Also, he's 5. I would honestly not stress about it at ...

Re: Discouraged - I have the bad attitude!

I don't have many suggestions, but I do have a few. Forgive me if they've been said and I missed them, but I've been interrupted about 5000 times while reading this thread  Also forgive me if you are already doing some of these. My suggestions might not be the best or most ideal suggestions, ...

Re: Experiences with NCAA?

My oldest is only 7th grade, and I've only asked people at one school this question, but their answer was basically that if the kids are recruited to play (not just walk-ons) then the rest of it doesn't really matter. So I would ask if you have him playing somewhere where he's being seen. Travel bal...

If I were you I'd use Bigger as is for the 3rd grader, LHFHG for the 1st and 2nd grader with right side Beyond for 2nd grader OR combine them in left side Beyond with LHFHG right side for the 1st grader, and nothing but K level right side for the K'er. ..... After looking at their ages instead of ju...

Re: Rev to Rev is taking way too long

Are you interspersing the interest led things throughout the day along with HOD? Is your 8-14 hours including snacks, bathroom breaks, lunch, dinner, etc? Or is that just plain school time? RtR only takes my DD about 3 hours and the only thing she doesn't do is DITHOR, so I cannot imagine the next g...
