Hi Angie! Great to hear back from you! I'll do my best to answer your questions here, but just keep firing them away until you get to the bottom of it and feel comfortable! There are super moms on this board with great ideas! As far as science and history: I do the science and history separately, bu...

Hi Angie! I'm torn in my answer to you. From reading what you've said, I think you could start out with both of them in Little Hearts..., but I don't know that you'd want to do it that way forever or that it would be best. The placement chart would definitely help you decide how far apart the two of...

Ideally, I like the idea of doing a little each day, but sometimes the clutter caused by this drives me crazy. Maybe you could put it on one day, and if people wanted to stretch it out and do a little each day instead, they could still do that. The time allotment is always something to consider too....

Hi Darci! We only type our narrations when it comes up in the plans , which is about once every 20 days of plans. This is written in Beyond... and Bigger... Otherwise, we just do it orally. My son LOVES it when I type his narrations though. I think it is wise to do it only every so often like in the...

One year that we had a particularly bad winter, we did sit-ups, push-ups, running in place (or up and down the stairs), and jumping jacks. The kids made it a contest to see if they could do more each week. We also bought some exercise videos. Billy Blanks Taebo for Kids was a favorite. We did that 3...

Hi Candice! I've been meaning to respond to your post for awhile and am just getting to it - sorry! I remember being very worried about teaching my first child to read and write. It seemed like a monumental decision, and I wondered if I'd be able to pull it off! Prior to homeschooling and before HOD...

We used the Family Time Bible with Little Hearts with my oldest, and now again with my middle child. It is a great Bible! We did buy 101 Bible... this year too though. I just don't think we can have too many Bibles in the house, and that is a great one too. I have my hubbie going through that one wi...

Glad to be of encouragement! I need it too so many times. By the way, I tried the library thing. I finally gave up depending on the library trips for anything other than some good books to check out once and awhile. If it was something I needed to relate to a curriculum I was doing, something always...

Hi Kim! I've been meaning to respond to your message here for awhile. Sorry I am just getting to it! First of all, you are blessed with SEVEN children, and that gives you a wonderfully BUSY day homeschooling! God bless you for choosing to homeschool them! I was pregnant with our third son last year,...

Hi! We've used Little Hearts twice now, and loved it! I think you are making a great choice! Your little one will enjoy joining in on parts of it as well. From what you've shared, you would need the Kindergarten Economy Package for sure. You probably want the Kindergarten Basic Package as well (it i...

I've found it really pays to put some time and thought into our schedule. It also helps me to pay attention to what is working and what is not. I've shared a very general schedule of ours before, but for this post, I thought it might be helpful to share things about grouping and blocks of time. I ge...

Later Example of Narrating, from Bigger Hearts... age
O.k. So, here is an example of my son's oral narration from doing Bigger Hearts... Narration of Baby Island, p. 156-160 November 1, 2007 By: Wyatt, almost 8 years old The interested 3 people were on the shore, watching 5 men coming from the big boat. Three did not have sailor uniforms, and 2 did. Mr...

Narrating: Could we share examples of it? My Early Example
When we first began narrating, I was worried. My son has always had auditory trouble, and it made remembering what was read difficult. He had speech for several years to learn to speak properly. (He was 7 1/2 weeks premature.) Hence, narrating was a scary concept to me. I wanted to share an example ...
