Re: Placement questions for 4th, 2nd, K, pre-K kids!
Not that I am an expert but would it be possible to to LHTH with your Prek and Ker and just have your Ker to appropriate math, reading, handwriting to supplement. Keep it simple for them. Easier for you too. Then they could move up through the guides as they age together and you could beef up progra...

Re: Little Hearts Science question
I'd go ahead and do it if it is scheduled but I do say that when we tried Little Hearts there were times that the connections between science and the Bible story were thin at best and times where the book felt disjointed. That was just my opinion. So doing your own thing would be perfectly fine too....

DITHOR- make sure I know what I need
I was able to purchase a used DITHOR yesterday which I was thrilled about. So what do I need now for my daughter who will be in 2nd grade. Student book 2/3? Book List? Book Projects? What is essential? I'd love to buy the book packs but just don't have the $$ to do so. :( So I have to use my library...

Re: Need direction and prayer ..... please
Ann- I think God speaks to our hearts and when you opened CtC and were moved to tears just looking at the first week, it appears God was whispering to your spirit that this might be the best placement for your son. You know what he struggles with and what would hopefully speak to him Lord willing, s...

Re: Struggling with Singapore.
We used Singapore for both K and 1st. My daughter also struggled heavily at times in 1A & 1B (though mostly 1A). Number bonds are a pretty foreign concept in the US so it teaches math differently than most of us even learned. I love Singapore but my daughter really struggled with it and would cry of...

Re: Yearly Testing
MomtoJGJE- your daughter did a great job! Congrats!!
Kristin- my daughter would be a big mess if she had to take that test. I agree. My poor girl shuts down if she is tested on something (other than spelling tests).

Re: Singapore math
Assuming your daughter is on target for first grade I would say use 1A & 1B. Beyond gives the option of either 1A/1B or 2A/2B because some people choose to use Beyond with a first grader and some would use it with their second grader. Does that make sense?

Re: Hey Again
Kathleen, BJU isn't like readers. It is textbook format. My daughter can read it on her own though. So that gives me something to think about. Depending on if I feel that she can handle that much history without drowning her in it. haha
Thanks for giving me much to think about.

Re: How has the Lord showen you what cirriculum to use?
In the beginning, I know that the Lord led me to HOD. I had never been more sure of anything in my life. But then my life got stressful and I really think I didn't place my daughter where she needed to be and I started tweaking and it got to be so hard that I quit. I'm not proud of it. I decided I k...

Hey Again
Hi ladies (some look familiar...some do not), We've been gone from HOD for almost 2 years. In fact I came back here and saw my signature and realized two full years had passed since I'd updated it. WOW. We left HOD during Little Hearts in K for various reasons. I think the biggest reason was that I ...
