Re: HS question: Incorporating the beef-ups
Where are in our second year of using beef ups. I just made an Excel spreadsheet at the beginning of the year breaking down the reading week by week and then assigning days for her to read but let her decide how much each day. I think at this age they really should be able to figure out how much to ...

Re: Using multiple guides
We are doing Preparing,RTR, and Rev to Rev. We started HOD with the combination you will be doing, Bigger and LHFHG. I do it amazingly similar to Lora Beth. :D It works really well and my times are really exactly like hers. My tip would be taking a look at the schedule thread and find someone with a...

Re: MTMM question with high school level on packages
I am planning on using the extension pkg for the high school level, but having my child read the "basic" books as well, just not doing any narration or work with that book. He is a fast, avid reader so it won't be too much for him. It will basically be his "free read" book, which we are always stru...

Re: MTMM question with high school level on packages
Thank you! :D I do eventually need it because I have five others who will be using it at different levels. But that is exactly what I needed to know if it was essential for her. She is a book worm so more than likely we will go that way but just wanted to know my options. Thanks for getting back so ...

MTMM question with high school level on packages
Just looking at the sneak peek. :D And reading the wording I am wondering something about what I would need for a high schooler if she is the only one using it next year. I have always used the basic and the extension for my oldest. This year from the description I am seeing for a younger child it i...

Re: slow down or modify?
I think your plan is a wise one. :D Just my BTDT experience is carrying them just for the sake of "progressing" instead of slowing down a bit and allowing them to get the skills is not wise when a child has learning issues or special needs. I did this with my dd that has CP because she was older and...

Pintrest and homeschooling!
If you are on pintrest you may not realize, as I did not, there is an education button. So make sure to set up an education board and make HOD a pin. I had no idea that people were doing hsing stuff on pinterest. Thought some of you might not know as well.

Wonderful! I love that you are covering all the things we really need to in ways we never seem to get to actually doing on our own.

Re: Teach 100 Easy Lessons vs The Reading Lesson
I tired to use 100 Easy Lessons a few times and it just was hard to get through for us. The Reading lesson on the other hand worked pretty effortlessly. I highly recommend you give The Reading Lesson a chance. It is a really great program and it works so well.

Re: Reading Lesson and CD usage
I used it exactly the opposite way. I guess I did not read the directions. :D But it worked great for us. I used it as a reward for finishing the lesson. It was great reinforcement. We used it three times that way and it worked great for us. I am sure it would work the other way as well but it just ...

Re: Grass is Greener Syndrome...help?
For some reason it's not letting me quote but I agree with psreit I do believe Satan is the author of discontentment and he does want us to feel inadequate in hsing our children to Christ. Definitely comparing to other and feeling we are coming up short or perhaps they are doing it better is one of ...

Re: Grass is Greener Syndrome...help?
I have noticed a pattern with curriculum hunting and hsing moms. There is always a group that comes up singing the praises of this new thing they have found or just started to try. The ones that sing the loudest and are seemingly the most excited about something new are the same ones about mid schoo...
