Re: Question about DITHOR
Hello! jenchampion, I was wandering which guide you were looking at using? :D :D I think in Bigger you do all 9 genres, and then in Preparing, I know you will do just half. I think if you reallllly wanted to do all 9 that you could do Dithor 5 days a week and get through the 9 genres. Though, my sug...

Re: Preparing ?
I do not if this will help, but Carrie does not schedule CHOW until the 4th chapter (skipping the 1st three). We start with Grandpas Box, then pick up CHOW in the Bronze and Iron ages, skipping the evolutionist views. We have learned in our home that Carrie has taken GREAT care to make sure what is ...

Re: scheduling of DITHOR in CTC
Hello Trudy!! :D I believe the idea is to finish 5 genres each year starting in Preparing and then the next couple of guides for sure. So you would pick 5 to do this year then do the remaining 4 next year plus maybe pick a favorite to repeat? This is our plan and is working great so far! :D This all...

Re: Smarr's for 10th grade? Which one?
We are doing Smarrs Introduction to Literature for our 10th grader and loving it! I think I was looking for the American, but for some reason ended up purchasing this one? I do not remember the other options though?

Yayyyyyy!!! :D :D :D Carrie, Thank you SO much for the blessing that you and your family are to so many others!! I realized last year that like Julie is saying it was so frustrating searching shelves for books (especially the library :? ,not that it is bad to go to the library...) to only walk away ...

Re: High School
Maggie, Hello and welcome to the boards! :D I used CTC last year with my then 9th grader. It went very well and we enjoyed it very much. The reason I used it for high school was simply because we were new to HOD and thought it would be good to start at the beginning of the history cycle. I now reali...

Re: science projects
I would say no, that is not the intention (or way it is planned)...now if you want to do them and you have the time then I would say it sure wouldnt hurt anything? :D :D But this is just my guess and we have not been doing the ones in the books, only the experiments in the guide. I reeeeally think t...

Re: Wondering if there is a book list for all levels???
I would say that you could look online or order a catalog for this? I just take my catalog every time I am getting an order together and scan the shelves for what we already have, to see of there is anything from the book packs I am ordering? I bet there is a better way, but I have not figured it ou...

Re: Literature Program to use with M2M for high school?
I was just going to add that per Carries recommendations, we did DITHOR with some of her book suggestions for 9th grade an that went very well. Then for this year (10th) we are doing SMARR (Introduction to Lit. pack)_, and absolutely LOVE it. Carrie had suggested either Smarr or Llatl and we went wi...

Re: Does Preparing cover all of CHOW? And....
Lassielou, Hello! :D I just wanted to say that yes you are correct that you would be using two seperate guides for the Preparing manual and then the Drawn into the Heart of Reading manual. Then you would be turning to the index in the back of the Preparing manual for extensions and also for dictatio...

Re: help....i can't decide where to start
Thank you so much for clarifying! And thank you for sharing a bit more about your children :D :D . Here is a thread on the amount of writing in Bigger vs. Preparing (As I am thinking that you must have meant Bigger instead of Beyond in your last post for your 8yr dd? There is quite a jump in the ski...

Re: 5th grader enjoying writing own poetry
That is so funny!!! You had me laughing (I could so see my kids doing the same things)! They are so wonderful, are they not! Everything you shared and more Julie are the reasons why we as a family are so GLAD that the LORD has allowed us to school our kiddos at home!! I am so thankful, and every tim...

Re: Do I skip a guide for next year???
momofjka, I was just wandering a few things? Is your son who is in Bigger doing ALL of the boxes exactly as written? Do you have him in his own/or correct level for grammar and math? Is his work neat and done in a timely manner? It is so funny, because I just posted on how glad I am that I chose not...
