Re: Kids sing HOD praise

LOL I love it! I got a high five from my 10 yr old today because he got to read about Harriet Tubam and the Underground railroad. "Got" Like it was a privilege! Like I I'd said we were going to the water park or something lol.

Re: How do you do dithor w 2 levels?

Post it sticky tabs my friends. We start the genre together, but I do the dithor with each kid at a different time of our day. They don't read to you on every day. some days they read to themselves. When my 4/5 reader doesn't have a dithor day, I use the post it sticky tabs to keep track of what day...

Re: PHFHG alternative to Heaven's Heroes?

Well it's not like you'll reading the book cover to cover. Different parts of the book are scheduled with different sections, infrequently enough that even if you have read it before, it will be a good review.

Re: LHTH with a new Reader: Ideas?

Thanks Ladies, all great insight and ideas. He enjoys doing the hand motion songs and loves reading from "Big thoughts for little people" . I not planning to leave LHTH, just help his excitement about reading keep going. I don't want him to get bored or stagnant because I'm not feeding his little mi...

LHTH with a new Reader: Ideas?

Guess who started reading last week? Our 4 yr old son! I knew he was getting close, but I wasn't really expecting it. So...Now what do we do? lol. Keep using LHTH as written, and supplement with with phonics? Maybe start using the reading lesson phonics that's scheduled for Kinder, in place/in addit...

Together. I read the questions, and He points out the places on the globe, map, or atlas. I always read the key idea at the end.

As soon as it's finished. I won't "check off the box" until I see it, and it's corrected for errors. If I haven't seen it, it isn't finished.

I Dithor with my 7yr old. I know that her handwriting will be sloppy-ish, and her drawing will leave me guessing, but We talk it out and she get's about 90% of it :) I choose books just above her comfort zone to keep her challenged. You don't HAVE to do the projects, though each project does teach s...

My PHFHG boy is working on Unit 27 this week. He cracks me up because he whined about having to do school work, but yet was SOOOO excited to pick up Hero Tales again lol. The younger two are going VBS this week, so we have three hours of quiet time to get the reading and work done without distractio...

Re: Will HOD carry us through HS?

The best news is, It's not a cycle!! It's a start where you're you it set. If you were using it to pace grade level, RTR would be 7th grade! My son is doing CTC for 5th grade. Do you remember if you looked at the HS set at the convention? I did, and I think I might have squealed out loud lol. It is ...

Re: Help me not give up! NOT doing well

I don't have anything exceptional to add at all. Frankly, we are a Military family, and I run my household in a militaristic fashion. But, I do want to extend to you a long distance hug, and let you know that we have hard days too. I yell at my kids sometimes. It doesn't make me proud or anything. I...

convention questions

Very much looking forward to WA homeschool convention this weekend! I am wondering if Whole packages will be available for purchase. And if so, would I only be going home with the guide, and the rest will ship to us, or, if EVERYTHING will be on hand. I know that reasonably that would be a tall orde...
