Re: Advice and Encouragement Needed
Congratulations Samantha! :D Welcome to HOD! I'm with you - I LOVE being able to be at home with my kids, and we love our days spent homeschooling with HOD. :D You're in for some great fun and learning and growing over the year! I know that I was especially thankful for the fact that the HOD guides ...

Re: schedule I typed up what do you think?
Hi Sherry! Will this be your 1st year using HOD? Or have you been using it for a while (and have already done the younger guides with your older kids)? I'm just wondering because I see a few things that would not work in our house, but in yours they might. :D Now, as I reply here, I have to tell you...

Re: Dictation in cursive?
Good question! We have no such preference in our house yet. But, I would have wondered the same thing since the "picture" that you take of the words will definitely look different in print and cursive.

Re: Rev to Rev Science question/substitution question
Hi Stacey! :D Welcome to HOD! I'm getting ready to order Rev2Rev myself, so I think I can answer your questions. For science, you will need to order Science Package Option 2, which is $175.81. That will include the 6 books listed, the inventor student notebooking pages, and the advanced explo...

We have LOVED Little Hands to Heaven at our house!! I can't wait to use it again with my little guys! Until then it's making the rounds to some friends to try out.

Re: New to HS and HOD- Practical implementation advice?
Good morning Kim! :D I'm excited for you as you begin your homeschooling journey! I really enjoyed CTC with my oldest...I couldn't believe how much I learned. We didn't make any kind of separate checklist. At the CTC level, the guide is written to the student for him/her to use for all their ...

Re: Quick Spelling Question ...
If I were you, I'd finish all of spelling list 1, and then go back and do list 2. :D I'd only do the lists that are for both 1 and 2 once, though. And, I'd be sure to follow the spelling plans listed in the LA box exactly and not skip anything. I've come to think of spelling instruction much differe...

Re: Sharing TM when combining olders?
Mumkins, I think if I were you, I would love to have a guide for each of my kids using it by CTC maybe? I don't know if you've looked closely at any of the upper guides yet or not, but the guide really IS the student manual at that level. :D It is written directly to the student, and tells them exac...

Re: Ordering DITHR?
I think I'd lean towards suggesting the 2/3 student book. My 9 year old used that when we did Preparing a few years back. How does he do with writing? That was our main consideration in choosing the level. With the 2/3 level, there will be a page requiring writing about 7 of the 15 days per g...

Re: When to end the "grade"?
We break for summer here, and I consider them to be done with their current "grade" in May when we break. Garret is in the middle of LHFHG this summer, and I consider him to be done with K and ready for 1st...and we'll pick up where we left off. Allison finished Beyond this past year, and is ...

Hi KK! :D I have just a few minutes here, so I'll share my math thoughts with you. We are using Singapore in our house and loving it. I have to say that math is probably my favorite subject. I've always loved solving problems. :D Here is a thread where Carrie shares why they picked Singapore to recc...

Re: bible in beyond?
In Beyond you will need a "regular" Bible rather than a "story" Bible. :D You'll be looking up verses of scripture to memorize and read in the Bible study box, as well as history, storytime, and DITHOR (if you're done with the emerging readers). Allison LOVED finding verses in her "real" Bible throu...

Re: Does anyone use an outside planner with HOD?
Ok, I haven't ever even looked at any of the planners that you gals are talking about. BUT, I can tell you that I like being organized and my memory seemed to be a little shaky the last 2 years while pregnant. And, I just use HOD's guides as is, and we know exactly what we've accomplished. :D...

Re: It's that time of year! Blessed to have HOD!
I am so grateful for a seamless program that is balanced, deep, rich, godly, and effective. ME TOO!! :D HOD is fabulous! And our only decision is WHEN to order the goods. I don't take for granted the hours and hours that I'm able to spend enjoying my kids and family since I don't need to be ...

Re: Question about Math
I'm guessing that there may not be many people here using Math Mammoth? HOD reccommends Singapore and has that planned out in the guides, so you will find answers on using that here. And, I know that it is a-ok to use whatever math you'd like with HOD, so there are moms using other things, but I don...
