Gee Mary I could easily see you combining DITHOR with the public speaking course you were talking about what was it last yr. The kids could talk about their book at the end of the genre study. But it would help to read over the manual first.

You could try to get some of the emerging reader books from the library and see how she does reading those. This would eliminate the books that are too easy. Then you would just have to get the later emerging reader books.

Tie in to Danny Meadow Mouse

We just read the chapter about Danny Meadow Mouse forgets and one of the questions Carrie asks is what are some good things to remember. Well we took the time to review parents first and last names, telephone number, address and 911. Just wanted to share since these are topics I think we sometimes f...

You can purchase the MFW Bible reader separately. I purchased it through Rainbow Resources. It lines up almost perfectly with LHFHG. There are about 2 or 3 stories that don't fit with HOD.

The only thing I can say is pray and try to be consistent. With my ds in the beginning he was always wondering is this a school day or not. Once we got into a routine of breakfast then school, he was much better. He also likes to pick what we do first which is always as he calls it the couch stuff. ...

Foreign Language

My dh would like me to start teaching my ds Spanish. He will be 7 in the fall. I was thinking of using a computer program like Rosetta Stone. Would my ds be to young for this? Does any one have any other suggestions for teaching a foreign language?

Thanks

For the make a cow one and eat it, my kids made cookies and shaped a couple like cows. It was really a case of I had dough made up already and asked them what they wanted to do and it was there idea. Could you do something like that? I'm not sure about the log one as I haven't gotten that far yet. B...

I see a couple of things you could do. You could stop where it says to in the TM. You could read ahead then when you finish the book early, you could read one that is NOT part of the program. This will prevent you from being on lesson 25 for read alouds and lesson 13 in history. You would just hold ...

This doesn't always work but for a bad attitude, we let ds choose what he does first. This is usually couch stuff (history, read aloud etc). We remind him that Daddy doesn't always want to go to work but he does anyway and does his best. If it is really bad I will tell ds he has a choice he get choi...

I bought this program for my animal loving son and we couldn't get through it. Its possible that he wasn't ready for it but the lack of organization frustrated me. It still sits on my shelf. I have looked at it again now that he is older and I still can't picture using it. They use the one small squ...

Mamaduke You said your ds will be 5 in the fall. In AZ it depends on when they will be 5 if they start k. So my ds who turned 6 in Nov is technically a k'er according to the state. That said he has finished HOP, is working on Singapore 1a/1b and we are using the 1st grade CLP science book. I am usin...

How fun!! My convention isn't until July also and Carrie won't be there. Not that I can blame her. Who would want to come to AZ in July. Its great that you got to meet them and didn't have to experience the deer in the headlights because of all the choices out there.
