Re: Encyclopedia of World Geography for RtR?

I agree with Daneale, and I was not a fan of Wikipedia. We started using it in RTR and it worked great for the postcard research. I know our library has an online encyclopedia that we have access to. We used this resource when my son was doing his research for Renaissance artists in IEW Middle Ages ...

Reading Level

I was looking over the website and I can't find the book shop. I used that to guide me on the order to read DITHOR books. I was going to use Follow My Leader so does anyone know what level this is? Where did the book shop icon go?

Re: Need HS Portfolio Building Advice From Experienced Moms

Letha, I have not done a portfolio even though I have graduated two, who have both graduated from the Christian university in Minnesota. I would suggest you print the Table of Contents/grading criteria for the WH guide (or was it WG). The WH is 45 pages long. I would also just find samplings of her ...

Re: Required State history??

Wendy, The state study in MTMM is purchased separately from the MTMM. The company that offers each state has resources for younger learners so that it can be tailored to a 4th grader, or whatever grade they are. Although suggesting other curriculum is not permitted on this board I believe I can ment...

Re: New to HOD - do I quit the co-op my kids love?

Kathy, We have done both HOD and co op for 8 years. Co op has complemented what we do in HOD. My dc love to go to co op. I have done Beyond and Bigger for 4days/wk. I have taken longer than a year to complete the guides, and that has been ok. It extends the guide by adding 9 weeks the next school ye...

Re: Adding some HOD material into 9th grade, special ed chil

Rumkimom, I know you mentioned using Apologia Physical Science, but I believe MTMM science would also be a good fit. I have read all the books and they are interesting living books. The only living book that may be tougher is Atoms in the Family. As the books are read the child writes about what has...

Re: My kids HATE Robert Frost, and he's my FAVORITE!

MrsRandolph, My daughter and I saw a choir performance of Robert Frost's poems. They were performed at my 2nd daughter's university by their choir and orchestra as a special children's concert. It was delightful! I would just continue with the reading and activities in HOD. Poetry is an acquired tas...

Re: where to have kids tested

Gweny, I would caution you about using a tutor center before you get a professional evaluation. The tutor centers have been known to be pricey. They also attempt to fix a problem without knowing the cause. That would be like putting a band-aid on a sore without cleaning it or checking it out. As Lyn...

Re: where to have kids tested

My son and daughter were tested at a center by a team of specialists. The specialist were 2 speech therapists, a psychologist, a nurse practitioner, and OT. The insurance paid for each specialist evaluation minus a Co pay. This was before Obama care so I don't know what has changed. I will need to h...

Re: Middle school nature study

Are you skipping two guides Rev2Rev and MTMM? Does that mean your 8th grader will skip these two guides and go into WG high school guide? That would be a huge leap in skills. Doing a nature study would be the easier part of a challenging high school guide. It would be a hard year and tough to add to...

My son just completed Chem 500. There are enough chemicals for another child. I am not sure how long they keep.
