Re: ? about combining: can I really wait this long to start?
Thanks, Joy. You know when you read something you wrote, and it sounds different than you meant it? :) It sounded like I thought my ds was somehow super-different and that HOD wouldn't apply to him in the same way  Rather, it just feels like SO long before I'll get to start LHFHG with him, if I...

? about combining: can I really wait this long to start?
Hi all, After reading many Q&As here on the board, I'm wondering if I would be able to combine my dc into one guide eventually. They're 2 yrs 4 mos apart, which doesn't seem to be that big a difference, looking at some of your plans. Ds is 4.5 and could have started LHFHG slowly, but we chose to sta...

Re: The Singing Bible in LHTH
Thanks everyone for your input...This message board is great :D I went ahead and ordered it. I also found some audio samples on CBD and had my son listen to them to make sure he'd be interested...my dd loves all things musical :). I also ordered the New Bible in Pictures for Little Eyes. I'd been us...

The Singing Bible in LHTH
We're just a couple of weeks into LHTH and haven't purchased the Singing Bible CDs yet. What do your kids think of it? We've been singing the fingerplays (to my own made-up tune  ) and both 4.5 ds and 2.5 dd have been loving it, so we've not been lacking in the music area, but I don't want them...

Re: Does anyone know where we can find ...?
I recently discovered allbookstores.com - it will search amazon, ebay and a variety of other used & new book websites for whatever book you type in, and sort the results by price. I sometime look for the isbn # on amazon, then search by isbn on allbookstores, and it will find it if it's "out there."...

Re: LHFHG with a chld with PDD(Persavise developmental disorder)
I agree with Val, don't worry about lack of socialization at home, particularly with many siblings. I was a speech-language pathologist in PS before having kids, and I assure you that he will do better as your student than in a small or large group setting. Does he participate in therapy with any sp...

Re: Newbie question about removing book binding
Carrie,
Thanks for the info about the HOD guides. I had LHTH spiral bound because the little printer/copier we use at home is set up rather inconveniently for copying from large books. I don't imagine I'd want to change any later guides.

Re: Reading Made Easy vs. The Reading Lesson
We've just started The Reading Lesson and it's working really well for us so far. Re: Newbie question about removing book binding
Thanks, all...It was incredibly easy. I did LHTH as well, so it would be easier to copy from.

Do I have to prepare/remove the pages in some way, or can I hand it over as-is?

Newbie question about removing book binding
This may be a silly question, but here goes...We're using The Reading Lesson with my son, and we're both very excited at his progress. The book, however, is hard for him to keep open in front of him. Has anyone removed the binding to 3-hole punch or spiral-bind it, and if so, what's the best way to ...

Re: New to HOD: LHTH or LHFHG?
Speaking of repeating LHTH with other children, has anyone repeated it with the same child the following year? I suppose I'll cross that bridge next year when my dd is 3...

Re: New to HOD: LHTH or LHFHG?
Update : I looked over LHFHG and decided to hold off for awhile, next spring or summer perhaps. My ds will then be 5.5 and able to get more out of the program, and my dd who will be 3 by then may enjoy listening in on some of it. I couldn't wait for LHTH to arrive, so I started today from the sample...

Re: New to HOD: LHTH or LHFHG?
Thanks, everyone, for your suggestions! I'm so excited for the books to come so I can start :) I suspect we'll start with LHTH and just keep on where we're at in AAS, RS math and Cursive First, and we'll re-evaluate in the fall. I forgot to mention we're already going through Finding the Answers, an...

New to HOD: LHTH or LHFHG?
Hi all, I have a ds (4:7) and dd (2:3) and I actually bought both LHTH and LHFHG because I think I need to see them both to decide where to start. I'll give you some background: My son and I started phonics a couple of months ago (at his request) with All About Spelling, knows his letter sounds, can...
