Re: Together, Separate...Let's Talk about School Set-up
We vary in our places, we move from the couch to different tables around the house. It sounds like you are feeling like I do, I don't like my children off in their room by themselves. I would encourage you not to dismiss your gut feeling on that. My Liberian daughter would like to be in her room all...

The link didn't work for me. Could you send it again or another way?

Re: Considering Beyond...
That's interesting that she doesn't like to be read to. Most of my children love it, even after they can read. I do have one daughter who isn't as thrilled about it, but I still do it, even my teenagers. Whoever is available comes and listens to the book when I read aloud. I think it's very importan...

You could definitely do it if the child is ready, just on your own. It won't mess anything up! You can take it slowly though as there is really no need to hurry.

My guy is almost 7 as well, great in math, not so hot in reading, and we just started Little Hearts. It's perfect for him and we really like it.

Re: Thought I would share my scheduling/workboxes
So, are you planning on just buying another manual for the next child or is it not specific to that child and can be reused? Looks incredible, but I'm exhausted from thinking about doing all of that. :) I'm going to take some of your ideas though, I feel like we're constantly trying to find things a...

Re: Struggling with separating the kids
I just wanted to say that my high school daughter is doing CtC this year, but 5 days a week to speed it up a little, and she LOVES it. It is so interesting to her and a nice change from what we were doing. She loves having it all spelled out for her what to do each day. We added extensions, plus som...

Re: Carrie, Julie, and everyone: I need reassurance!
Sounds like a great plan. Just enjoy, enjoy, enjoy these years when they are so young, they go so fast. Not too long ago, there wasn't such thing as "kindergarten". Read books, play games, do puzzles, play outside for hours, go on hikes and walks, cook, color. :) You won't be holding him back. I bel...

Re: joining grades and reading comprehension
What guide(s) are you doing? How old are the children? We are doing Little Hearts with my boy who is 6.5 and the readings are perfect for him. If it's not that your little one is just too young, maybe you could switch some things up to not do too much sitting and reading all at once. Just a thought....

correction of Little Hearts, The Ship That Sails
Maybe someone has already posted this or Carrie did somewhere. But my older daughter (16) found a mistake as she was helping my younger daughter to copy her poem. Whenever there is a "Then" it should be 'Than' and there should be no punctuation at all after the word 'failed' in the last stanza. Nancy

Welcome to Texas! It will be quite a change for you since you are from WA, but we love it. We are in Austin. And, I have an Evan as well! Only, my Evan is 21 and is in Mexico right now volunteering on Red Cross ambulances-he's a paramedic. We just switched to HOD and one of the manuals we are doing ...

Use what you already have. God will use it. There is a ton that she will get out of Bigger, it's more meaty than it seems. Also, something you said, "she's only 9", yes, those books are too challenging, but also remember, she's only 9. Since she's your oldest, she probably seems "old" to you. School...
