Re: For those using Bigger w/ KJV

Thanks for the tip! We're also KJV only so I'll file this info away for next year when we get to Bigger!

Re: Singapore 1B Unit 31 Beyond - help

Wow, I don't want to hijack your thread, but that sounds so complicated I don't know if I can do Singapore 1st grade math myself, let alone teach it. :? You ladies are impressing me. I'm with you here. I have all the stuff for Singapore next year with Beyond, but I'm had anxiety over it from the be...

Re: Currently using LHTH...Should I move to LHFHG now or wai

I would bump her up if she's ready as well. My oldest DD went through LHTH twice. The first time when she was 3 with the younger options/bible/devotional and then again at 4 with the older options/bible/devotional and some added phonics and other supplements. She loved it both times....BUT at 5.5 (s...

Re: Classic or Girls Reader Sets?

I bought the girl set. I thought my DD would like them more, and I plan on purchasing the boy set for my son when he is old enough, that way it will change things up for ME a little as well. Then when my youngest gets to them, I can use the girl set again. That's a really good point! However, I'll ...

Re: Week in Review March 26-30

Julie---I love reading your updates! I giggled at your boys and their antics! I especially love the picture of them in the middle holding their knives during your feast! Wyatt's painting is wonderful! You are just a little bit away from us in LHFHG. We are wrapping up Unit 16. spidermansmum---Nathan...

Re: Greenville homeschool convention

I didn't think Carrie was going to be at the Greenville convention? Hmm. I had actually won tickets to go, but when it got close to the time, things happened that made it so I had to miss it. :(

Re: phonics with The Reading Lesson

The Reading Lesson is not going to be as complete as Abeka. It teaches to about a 2nd grade reading level and doesn't cover all the sounds like Abeka eventually does in 1st. FWIW, I used Abeka's Handbook for Reading and the basic phonics flashcards with the Letters and Sounds workbooks. This is wha...

Re: Beyond - Phillipians 4:8 memorization-KJV

I don't really have any advice, but wanted to thank you for posting this thread! We are KJV only as well and sometimes my DD stumbles over some of the more difficult words. The suggestions here so far are being filed away for me! :)

Phonics advice please!

My DD will be 6 in a few weeks. We completed about 3/4 of Abeka's K5 phonics, and then switched to The Reading Lesson because Abeka was simply too much for us, even though it was working. We just finished TRL yesterday, but I wasn't really impressed with it. My DD can read on a 2nd grade level, but ...
