Re: Copywork dilemma
I would venture to say that perhaps you can do both. Perhaps, every other week, he chooses a longer passage to type out, and then on the opposite weeks he chooses a shorter passage to do some focused cursive practice. He obviously realizes that he has some difficulties, but it is obvious that he wan...

Grading for Jr High/Sr High
I'm wondering how everyone handles grades with their Jr high and Sr high students. In particular, my eldest is working on correcting her previous work in both math and science. Normally, I give them a point for each problem correct. Does anyone give them partial points for reworking problems and fin...

Re: Sneak Peeks: New World Geography Guide
Not sure where to ask this, so I'll tack it on here.
I'm a year away from purchasing the Geography guide, but I noticed that I already own several of the titles. What is the substitution policy going to be for the different packages with this?
Blessings.

Re: First day of school traditions....
We started a new tradition that I "borrowed" from a good friend. We went out for breakfast. We had to leave at 6am, however, because DH had to be to work by 8:30 and has a long drive. My eldest two DD's weren't real thrilled with that, as they wanted to sleep until ten minutes before our normal star...

Re: Could I ask for your prayers?
Larica,
That sounds so difficult! I'm so sorry for all the pain you are having to go through. I will pray for all that you have asked - and that God would give you a peace that only He can give.
Blessings.

Re: Just curious who is doing REV this year?
My 12 year old DD will begin Rev2Rev on August 12. My 14 year old DD will be finishing it, hopefully soon thereafter. I'll be interested to see how things get changed up the second time around.

Re: Question about typing oral narrations in MTMM
One other thought on this. I was in a session once where an exercise was done. Someone had to recount a memorable event from the first 8 years of their life, and someone else had to record it exactly as they spoke it. Afterwards, when it was read back, it was interesting to note all of the run on se...

Re: Has anyone done the same guide twice in a row? Advice pl
With my youngest DD (turned 5 in November) we are using LHFHG, but we use it a bit differently. We do a reading lesson every day and a math lesson everyday. These are located on the far right hand side of the guide. There are three other boxes on the top and we do those on one day, and on the next d...

Re: Back To The Drawing Board, Please Help
By that time the Geography may be available used. Or, if you decide to go with the PAC works science that is written into the Geography guide for this next year, maybe you'd have the guide already and only have to get the other books. If you still need another social studies/history type credit, the...

Re: Back To The Drawing Board, Please Help
What about RTR with extensions? It is a particularly interesting year for boys. You'd have to beef it up a bit, but there is a whole thread where Carrie explains how to do that for high school. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=7240

Re: Questions...skip MTMM
It is a hard decision whether to beef up MTMM or head into high school and use the guides as written. It will be different for each family. :D I just wanted to be sure that your daughter could handle the jump successfully, and it sounds like she could. Carrie, I suspect there are a lot of families ...

Re: Rev to Rev Week 24, Boxes 7 & 8
I see Box 7 discussed in the history project box for day 3 and Box 8 in the history project box for day 4. It looks like they are supposed to be sketching the domes that are in the picture. Hope that helps.

Re: Sneak Peek #7: New World Geography Guide
it is definitely much easier to listen to a book on audio than it is to actually read it independently. Kiddos can usually listen many grades above what they can read. Blessings, Carrie Carrie, This brings up a question then in regards to reading a book versus listening to it at the high school lev...

Question on High School Guides
Hello, I didn't really see an answer to this looking through the various messages. I'm wondering if, like the CTC through MTMM guides, there will be something like the student notebooking pages? Or as I think I will refer to it - the Student Portfolio? (Just sounds a little bit more grown up to my t...
