Re: New to HOD and have 2 questions
I have found HOD to be on schedule with other curriculums. There will be differences on what order science and history are covered, but this normally isn't a problem unless it is high school (due to state requirements for what history/social studies credits a student must have). As for math, HOD is ...

Re: LHFHG Workbook question
I wonder if they still have some of the "older" books they used last year - Going on Eagerly (obviously they have this) and Hearing and Helping. When people ordered these, they gave them a print-out with a schedule. You could email and ask them if you could get that. Or, you could even just do the n...

Re: high school help?
How much of the US history is he missing? You said he has read some of the MtMM titles, so it might be possible. As written, the history/left side of the guide takes about 2 hours each day (4 days a week). We are no where near there though. As for transcript, some states require geography instead of...

Re: high school help?
So, the next guide (officially the 10th grade guide) will be world history. So, could you hold off on world history until next year? You could do geography this year (using the new guide) or US history if he only covered part of that (either MtMM or Rev to Rev maybe - or even a combo of those two). ...

Re: Can parts of HOD be done after public school?
We haven't gotten to Preparing yet, but here is my understanding: Economy package is reading about history, research/geography/timeline, and history project. Basic package read alouds is storytime. Self study deluxe package is the independent history box (and you can use the extension books here as ...

Re: Breakfast/lunch ideas?
We are trying to eat healthier, so I am thinking of doing the following: Breakfast burritos or cereal and yogurt for breakfast Casseroles/Freezer meals for lunch And then for dinner, the idea is to just do meat and veggies - no grains/potatoes/etc. Hubby will get the previous day's lunch left over f...

Re: Start LHFHG or Wait
What about half speed? Maybe do the fine motor skills and math as scheduled, starting with where he is in K? Then split the rest of the boxes over two days. You could keep going with reading everyday too, as it is never bad to have them ahead on reading skills. If at some point you wanted to go more...

Re: Getting Started
As for covering one subject a day, it could easily be done. The first few guides are fairly short though, so you might not have to just do 1 subject a day. The preschool guide (LHTH) only takes 30 minutes a day. So, you could just do half in the morning and half at night. The next guide (K, 1st, or ...

Re: Following instructions for LHFHG Art?
Here is what we ended up with: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-_hnGUKrYd0U/UfJ7u-XpA3I/AAAAAAAAAsI/dR0dprptwl0/w1508-h1007-no/005.JPG The youngest mostly just did the glue, and I did the papers. DS wasn't interested (wanted to play instead), and then when I wasn't looking did his part all alone. ...

Following instructions for LHFHG Art?
Okay, I will admit I am a bit of a perfectionist. And I am trying to get over that with my daughter. But, how much do you push your kids to follow the directions for the LHFHG art? We did Unit 1 Day 2 tonight. I was showing her how to do the mosaic (don't overlap all of the pieces, leave a gap, etc)...

Re: Sticky for Setting up for each guide?
Little Hearts is easy. There aren't too many books, which makes it a snap. I have a 3 ring binder for all of our paper (art, handwriting, etc), and then I just have the books on the shelf. I don't think there is much more to do. I did put washi on the bindings of all the books (red for LHFHG), and I...

Re: Are there lists of the book titles used each week?
Many of the books are used for multiple units. So, I just label the spine with tape for each guide. You could use two colors of tape - one for guide and one for kind of book. I use washi tape because it is like painter's tape and will come off easily. I found with LHFHG that the books come in and ou...

Re: Geometry? ?
What about doing Foresters Algebra 2 and then waiting on the Geometry until Carrie has reviewed those? She said in another post that she probably won't have recommendations for geometry until next spring since she hasn't looked at those yet.
