Re: Need Help Choosing

Katie, I like RME and it didn't take as much time to do as LtR does, but DS loves LtR much better and is retaining much more with it. Both programs have step to step for the teacher. RME tells you exactly what to say. The LtR TM is more like a school teacher manual, I'd say. It does give you step by...

Re: Placement Question on DITHOR

Thanks ladies for the input. I was just concerned because the TM said that they would need to know stuff taught in the early years to do 6/7/8. But if you think he will be fine. I agree with 8arrows' sound advice - your ds can do Level 6/7/8, and I bet he is going to L-O-V-E it! :D We just - as in t...

Re: Need Help Choosing

I just wanted to say that we haven't started HOD yet but are really looking forward to using it in the fall. We will be doing the same as you and using HOD for the History and Science and we are using CLE LtR and Math now. We started off with Reading Made Easy and it was going great at first but the...

Placement Question on DITHOR

I want to start DITHOR with my 8th grader. I just read in the TM that, “Any students that are new to the program should be placed in level 2/3 or 4/5. So, should I just place him in 4/5 and give him books to read at his level? Or is 8th grade too old to start this program? Also, if he starts off thi...

Re: New to HOD and Have At Least One Question!

I've had one guide left bound, one unbound and in sheet protectors. I *much* prefer to leave it alone. I use a binder clip to mark our spot and those little Post-it flags to mark other places (poems, spelling, etc). Welcome to HOD! I hope you love it as much as we do! :D Thank you for your welcome....

Re: New to HOD and Have At Least One Question!

I like routine and structure too. I found it very easy to just work from the HOD guide. I thought about making a different list to work through, but it seemed crazy to do all that extra work when part of the reason I love HOD is that it is open and go. But, at the beginning of the year, I do sit do...

It was helpful for me to think through these ideas too, as HOD will be new for us this year.

Trudy :D
Thanks Trudy! I think that's the one. What a huge help.

New to HOD and Have At Least One Question!

Hi, I am new to HOD. I will start using it this Fall with my 6yo and 4 yo DSs. I am so excited. I have a question, that may sound a little strange, but... I have to be very organized throughout my day or I don't do well and I just keep thinking about having my big TM out so that I know what to do. ...
