Re: Science in High School

We are also in NYS and I am going to also be doing MMM with my 14yo 9th grader in the fall. He is interested in engineering. This year he did two sciences. He did the Advanced Exploration and Chemistry I (using Spectrum Chemistry.) He was also doing Algebra I concurrently. He did not have any...

Re: Science in High School

Thanks, Lynn. You list it out nicely. I can't say whether or not a science major is something he will end up being. When I was 14 I wanted to be a police officer. When I was 18 I started college as a communications major. I graduated as a nurse. I just want to satisfy the state as painlessly a...

Re: R & S English 2

You don't need the guide for R & S. Just do one lesson a day and you will be good. What is nice about this approach is that you can skip a day of English if you need to, OR you can do English on a day that you might not be using the guide. We always do one full guide of R&S English every year corre...

Re: Science in High School

I should also say, in showing the material for Evolution: The Grand Experiment to my husband he is leaning toward doing that with my boys as a weekly devotion. We do home Sunday School and it looks like this would be a wonderful resource for them to do together. ♥

Re: Science in High School

Thank you for your responses, Stephanie. I don't know what PACES means. So - you are suggesting that for his 10th grade year, (2015-2016) while we do the World Geography book, we could do the Bio from the NEXT guide (World History)? So work out of two guide books? Then for his 11th grade year, (2016...

Re: Science in High School

That's funny - I just found that, myself. Was hurrying back over here to answer my own question. I am still finding the whole thing terribly confusing. For 8th grade we did Rev to Rev and used the Advanced Version of Exploration Education. After sharing it with homeschool vet. friends they encourage...

Re: Science in High School

Hmm... I followed your link and can see that the publisher has that text listed as two credits, but I see that Carrie has it listed as one credit on the Hearts for Him Through High School: World Geography page. Does anyone know if she has explained the difference between the two credit-counting form...

Science in High School

I've spent a while searching, and I seem to answer one of my questions only to then have new ones! My son will start 9th grade this fall. We will be using MTMM. I live in NYS. Looking at transcripts that my friends have had for their graduated children, their sciences are listed something like this:...

Re: Economics for high school credit (MtMM), Sproul/Ramsey i

Coming LATE to this discussion... I wonder if anyone used the DVDs that were discussed and what they thought of them. I am hoping to beef up the economics of MTMM for my 9th grade son next year. From this and another thread I have down: MTMM guided Penny Candy/Common Sense Business PLUS: Bluestockin...

I agree - I'd not skip a guide unless ds is not challenged or at a proper placement level. The guides do build upon each other, and multiple students will follow this path for high school... 9th: MTMM (count as late American History) 10th: World Geography 11th: World History 12th: American History ...

Re: not sure what to do. Four years left of school, five gu

Why skip a guide? There are only 140 days per guide. You could do more than 1 guide a year, doing some 5 day weeks or more than 35 weeks of school. This is if you want to finish all 5 guides. I have not used above Rev2Rev, we start MTMM in a few weeks. But my experience with HOD is each guide grows...

Re: Beyond, and "Indians" (First Nations / Native Peoples)

This is what I was saying I believe Beyond does a really good job of teaching. :) It shows both right and wrong things people (various people, there are no good guys/bad guys that are an overall theme) did and how that worked out for them. It teaches them that life isn't always going to be sunshine...

not sure what to do. Four years left of school, five guides

Hello. I am an infrequent poster, an occasional message board reader, but a long time user of HOD. We were introduced to HOD back in 2008, I believe, when I was looking for a guide for history. We incorportated more and more of the guide books into our schooling over the years. We still do math and ...
