Re: Guide Skips Pages in Do It Carefully, LHFHG?

I'm just trying to remember quick here, but was it because it was skipping a handwriting page? I think last year we skipped over the extra handwriting practice because we were already doing the scheduled pages in A Reason For Handwriting Book K. By doing those pages on top of the handwriting book, w...

Congratulations, Lourdes!!!! :D :D :D What a blessing! We'll be shifting our prayers from a healthy safe pregnancy to a healthy weight gain and growth for your little sweetie! My niece was born last spring at 26 weeks weighing in a 2 lb. It's amazing what God can do with two pounds! She's a big happ...

Re: RTR history project unit 4

One thing you could try that would involve less mess and be a bit quicker, would be to purchase a tub of crayola air dry clay. It's about five dollars at stores like walmart and work really nicely for these types of projects. We've had trouble in the past getting our dough just right, and it frustra...

Re: How do you present poetry copywork to your Beyond kids?

When we did Beyond, it was with my ds8 and dd6. My son could do the copywork pretty quickly, and my daughter struggled more with it, as she was new to writing and copywork. So I decided how much my son should do each day, (like 2-4 lines depending on length) and my daughter would also work on as muc...

Re: Did you see! MTMM samples are up!

Th first week must have been up for a bit now, because I seem to have that already printed out, to drool over! But, I did notice the other day that the introduction for the guide is up for viewing. It's so helpful to be able to print these out and read them ahead of time, so when our guides a...

Re: Timeline??? For those who have done Bigger and Preparing

For Bigger Hearts the guide suggests making a chart type timeline grid. Your child just places entries in their correct column, label them, and draw a picture to go with it. Here's what the Bigger Hearts Introduction from HOD's website says about the timeline: Timeline Entry To understand the flow o...

Re: How do you keep from oversupplementing?

One thing I've noticed, is that there's this running list in my mind of things I'd LOVE to try out someday. Well, with each year that goes by, I'm seeing those items being added to the guides as they're written! It's so cool! :D Many books I've drooled over in the past just showed up in the MTMM gui...

Re: CTC unit 3 water color tutorial is up :-)

Along the lines of tips and advice on starting the watercolor painting within CTC, my best suggestion would be remember to add water to the paint before trying to paint with it. We didn't know this at first, so my son's first painting was really dark. And we used a lot of paint! We had never ...

Re: pics of timeline in beyond?

Another thought would be to put it on a file folder for durability. We did this, and made our boxes bigger so there was room for my children to write and draw a small picture without "scrunching"! We just made our boxes bigger and put a few columns on each side of our folder.

Re: Preparing and Creation to Christ

It sounds like your developing a great plan here! :D I really like the idea of separating the older from the younger two, and starting in Preparing the guides start to be much more independent, so that will free up a little more of your teaching time each year. There is a sticky at the top of the ma...

Good job, on a great first week! :D Sounds like they're really getting into the stories and enjoying learning! You'll have to keep us updated on how MTMM is progressing through the year. That guide, like all the others, looks SO good! :D
