Re: Let me hear you sing the praises of RevtoRev!!!

I love these wonderful reviews. My older son is working through RTR right now, but he will only have 9 weeks of work left when we come back from Christmas break. We plan to pick right up with Rev to Rev (probably in March). He is excited and so am I. These reviews just help that excitement right alo...

Re: Week In Review Oct 24-28

I have very little time...but wanted to say that we had a wonderful week. ds8 finished Unit 12, Day 1 in Bigger while ds12 finished Unit 14, Day 3 in RTR. We are having a great year so far. My older ds is doing RTR 5 days a week and will move on to Rev to Rev at the beginning of April. :) I am sorry...

Re: Week in Review October 10th-October 14th

Ds7 has been doing a beautiful job with Bigger. We are having wonderful days and I am seeing a lot of improvement in his skills - especially handwriting - as we go through the year. We finished Unit 10, Day 3 today. He has had a great time learning about Ben Franklin and has done some wonderful note...

Julie, I just love seeing Wyatt's work. He is an awesome little writer! I can't help but look at his work and wish my son had the same flare for writing sometimes...like I did as a child. However, I know each child has their own talents and my ds sure has come a long way! The IEW writing we are usin...

Re: I feel bad for other homeschooling moms!

I totally understand! None of my close homeschooling friends use HOD. I have told them about it, but all, for one reason or another, just can't try it. Most of the time, their issues are with the lack of "test taking" and "traditional school." Many times I go to God in prayer for them when I hear ho...

Re: Question about dictation in Bigger...

I agree with the above poster. You could even sit him down and go through it orally having him spell the words in several passages throughout. If you think he needs the next level up, then go to the end of Level 3 and give him a few passages from there. If he passes them, make a big deal about start...

RTR My older son is struggling to get into the groove this year. I have had warnings that 7th grade seems to be the crazy year for some kids...and boy, do I believe it! He has been harder than ever to discipline, has been more defiant and careless in his work, and his overall attitude just stinks s...

Re: Week in Review Sept 12 - 16, 2011

We had a great week. We finished Unit 7, Day 3 in Bigger and Unit 8, Day 3 in RTR. Bigger Cursive is going wonderfully! He loves Cheerful Cursive and I have found that learning cursive is actually helping to make his print neater! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v606/hiddareboog/IMG_0551_1.jpg Her...

Re: Wondering (and a little frustrated) if my second grader

Some kids really just read faster than others. Boys, in particular, seem to take a little longer (not ALL boys, but as a general statement). My older son is in 7th grade and he reads aloud pretty nicely - when I can force him to do it. He learned to read by sight only in pubic school and phonetic pr...
