Re: Has anyone used books from the extension as storytime books

I have been reading these boards and Carrie's thoughts and I can really see the wisdom in sticking to the Story time to get the benefit of a Charlotte Mason education... small amounts of reading that you really get a lot out of... so I have reduced our book list in order to follow the storytime sche...

Timelining?

As we do the other levels is it easy to add them all together and make one big timeline or does it stay a separate timeline for each level?

Re: what would be better?

Based on their ages, I was saying start now with Little Hearts, but I am not an expert on placement. What did the placement chart say?

I am waiting to start HOD until January because we have some remediating/catching up to do and because of finances.

Re: what would be better?

We've been lightly homeschooling for a couple of years now and my oldest two boys are both reading very well for their ages (both could handle DITHOR technically, but maturity-wise would be better off with Emerging Readers). Their maths ability is extremely good and their handwriting competent for ...

I finally got a look at my new catalog...

WOW! Looking at the books the science for CtC and RtR looks great. I can't wait to see how it is implemented. I love the idea of science tying in with history.

Re: Announcement for Summer Months

I am sorry that I have caused a little more work in corralling my posts. I am learning. I understand that it is easy to get confused. I was actually scared off for a while because I saw a post about someone choosing their read alouds. I thought it must not be open and go then... but it is. HO...

Re: If my daughter loved The House on Walenska Street...

That is a good point Carrie, because this book was a Sonlight reader. She generally disliked most of the Sonlight readers and I would think that they are all pretty similar. LOL I was hoping for a specific suggestion. I thought All of a Kind Family might be similar.

Re: How long will I have to do 2 levels at once?

You can always combine a little for Storytime by getting half of the books from one level and half from another. Your kids could also all listen in on one spine book (from the history or science), or the older kids could do some of the younger's projects. Also remember that HOD covers each and every...

Re: How long will I have to do 2 levels at once?

Also, I'm open to being convinced about using 3 curricula at once. Since I have been reading these boards I have seen many examples of ladies happy to have taken the plunge and stop trying to combine their kids. They say that it is easier to use separate guides than trying to adjust one curriculum ...

Re: ideas for a child with auditory processing issues

I have been trying to get information on this as well, so a couple of resources were suggested to me. Reading Reflex is very good for speech problems. It breaks down words into their individual sounds, which will help with speech and auditory processing. Helping Children Overcome Learning Difficulti...

Woo Hoo! Smiley Party! :o :P 8) :D :)

Nothing could drag me away from the two programs that I have picked out. If they won't work with my kids (and why ever not?) I would order them for myself. LOL

Re: help w/ placement in beyond or bigger pls

I do want to support HOD and the board rules are acceptable. I feel an older student who needs remediation might need something different. All of the links that I provided are either to free products from the 1800's (and certainly would not replace any HOD products) or a phonics promoting/tutoring p...
