Re: Week In Review 3-27-09

Here we go, think I got it. So sorry about this! This past week we learned about the flag of Old England in history (Beyond Little Hearts) and what a beautiful sight it must have been for those pilgrims who were already trying to settle in to Plymouth Colony when they saw this flag on a ship coming ...

Re: Calling all HOD Texans.....

Hi April! :D Native Texan here, but we are now living in Mexico. I grew up in the DFW area and then lived in East Texas for 9 years (Lindale/Tyler area) before we relocated to Mexico last year. We are loving HOD as well, my first grader is doing Beyond and will be doing Bigger when we finish. My soo...

Re: What MATH program do you use with HOD?

I'm in the same boat as you, graduated without higher math and not real confident in my math abilities. We used BJU for K and really enjoyed it, but I found the TM too pricey to continue (and bulky). So, we moved on to CLE (Chrsitian Light Education) for 1st grade and have both thrived with it. The ...

Re: Considering homeschooling..........have a question

Hi Christy! :D I'm from Texas, born and raised, so depending on where you are located, I might be able to connect you with some other home school Moms or a group. You can PM me if you don't feel comfortable sharing that on here. We are in Mexico now, but I do miss all of the great opportunities that...

Re: New Here With More Questions About Beyond.....

Yes, we add "Wee Sing America" to our day but mostly because we live in Mexico so my children will not get exposed to things like "The National Anthem" and "The Pledge of Allegiance" in more typical settings. This a great program and we have loved our journey so far! :D

Re: I started, but now I question???

I would go back to LHTH. I am going to be using LHTH with my son who turns 5 in June for K as he is quite a wiggler and not ready for those longer readings either. If she seems right between the two, I would start out with LHTH and just add in the phonics and math. :D

Re: Christian Light Education?

I have Kristen..and they do have great materials. But I will say, that it can be tough to plug in the CLE LA to a HOD program because it is so involved, and I think you miss out on so much that is already written for you beautifully in the HOD guides. We use CLE math and it is a great fit for us. So...
