Level of Grammr for 6th grader
My son is finishing 5th grade this year at a private school. They used the Shurley Method 6 for grammar this year. I am wondering if I should get Rod and Staff 6 or mybe 7 for this coming year of school. When we homeschooled earlier we used Rod and Staff level 2. I tried looking at samples of R&S le...

Re: Placement Guidance Please
I was just about to ask how people use CTC for a 6th grader. I had pretty much figured it out but it was nice to have confirmation. With the extension package, do they just read? Do the storytime questions go along with the extension package if you choose to have them read the extension package inst...

Sumarizing vs. Narrating
Ok this year i had to place my 2 eldest in private school. I am very pleased so far. They are able to work at a higher level in subjects or a little lower if they need to based on individual need. One of my beefs though is when the owner said they were "summarizing" and not answering the questions s...

Prayer for schooling
Hello all, I really feel in my heart that i should continue to homeschool. I spoke with a lady at my church who was very encouraging about it. I would just like more confirmation that i am supposed to homeschool. I do't want to follow my flesh that wants to homeschool or the advice of parents or Chr...

Re: HELP -does anyone have answer keys for the guides ?
If I remember correctly I think my son and I determined this poem was serious, or thoughtful as stated when you read the poem the second way. You are suppose to read the poem with enthusiasm the first time and this would be the "mood". The 2nd time you read it , you are supposed to read it in a slow...

Re: Question for those that have children close together
I have never read that. . about not letting them hear the read-alouds. I read my son's story-time(he is in Bigger) and my daughter's story-time (she is in Beyond) and i don't make anyone separate. My son enjoys listening to the story-times again if he is around. and my daughter enjoys listening to h...

Re: Combine or keep seperate?
I am doing Bigger with my son (turned 8 in October), Beyond with my daughter(just turned 7 last Sunday) , and we have gone half-way thru LHTH with my just turned 4yr old. I think after the 4th child was born, the 3rd child's kinda got pushed to the side, but that is ok we do other things and we have...

Re: So excited! Beyond Humor storytime...
That is exactly what i am going to do with my daughter. I read it (Pooh) for my son when he was in Beyond and I just can't stomach reading it again. I gave my daughter the choice and she right a way chose Happy Jack. Whew! We love the Burgess books here. Can't wait to read it with her.

Yes, Kindle is good, but there is nothing like holding a book in your hand.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Organizing Preparing Hearts
Thanks for the visuals. I have my eye on some book/magazine holders. I really want to organize better. IT is hard when there are 4 different aged kids.
I will be viewing your post again as i get closer to Preparing. Not that far away.

rod and staf grammar in Preparing
How does it work in Preparing? I know there are only 4 days to a unit instead of 5. So are you doing less grammar (quantity in pages) than in the Bigger guide? We are in Bigger now and using the level 2 grammar. do you skip parts of the level 3 since there are less days to do grammar or do you just ...

Tamara,
Glad you will be back with friends and family.
I think inHistiming got it pretty well covered for record -keeping in Florida. it is really easy.

Is all of exploring astronomy used in the Rtr guide?
i have read on the apologia site that they recommend doing each lesson over 2 weeks. is that how HOD uses it and then adds in those other books? We are wanting to use the anatomy apologia book in a another guide as a substitute but i don't want to do too much or have to cut out any more Hod than i h...
