Re: Algebra....
My dd used this and did fine. She also did TT Pre-Alg. What happened for her is that she had a hard time with TT about 3/4 the way through. We stopped and went through Understanding Mathematics from Counting to Calculus to help her with some stumbling areas. She resumed TT but slowly. Due to the che...

Re: CTC - Watercolor - High School Credit Worthy?
Have you read any of the Lee Binz e-books? She has several and does free webinars to address things for high school, credits, descriptions, doing things for special circumstances, etc. From her info, if your child spends about 2 hours a week on something that is .5 credit. If they spend 4-5 hours a ...

Re: Algebra help: No-Nonsense + CTC Math online or Foerster
This post was very helpful for me just today. Hope it helps you http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13789 Thanks for that reminder. I haven't ordered yet, and still need to show my dd the Foerster dvd clips online and see how she feels about it compared to the lessons she's done...

Re: Algebra help: No-Nonsense + CTC Math online or Foerster
No one else with any high school math experience to chime in?
I am amazed too - a younger one going into Algebra! What a great mind for a child! My youngest seems to have more of a math mind, so time will tell what she does. My oldest one doesn't like it at all.

Re: question -- MtMM unit 23 day 2
Ugh, I didn't even think to check for updates. My brain obviously has been out to lunch. We had quite a few that didn't work for us this well either. Some we skipped and others we found something the same on another site (going by the lesson note either the title or the content seemed to be the same...

Re: Algebra help: No-Nonsense + CTC Math online or Foerster
Thanks for your thoughts. I hear ya on the jumps. I needed something to teach my dd. With youngers, I can't do it all. My dd has major complaints about voices, so finding a voice that doesn't irk her is hard. We only did 2 pre-alg because the approaches were slightly different, and if she didn't get...

Algebra help: No-Nonsense + CTC Math online or Foerster
Hi all - Just a quick question. I need to order the high school guide this weekend. My dd has had math woes so we've used a few things. After doing TT Pre-Alg. AND Math Essentials Pre-Alg last year, dd wanted to use Math Essentials No-Nonsense Algebra this year. We've been using it, and she is slowl...

Re: What does anyone here know about common core?
I am glad you posted this. I have been sitting on my hands for a month or more on bringing up the same subject. If you haven't seen this site yet, google "The Educational Freedom Coalition." It has some nice info. The gal who put this together, Tina Hollenbeck, has lists of homeschool curricula that...

Re: Adding to Nature Journal for Fine Arts Credit for HS
When compiling hours for Fine Arts credit, do the hours have to be in one thing/study? I ask because my 13yo is in MtMM right now. We are doing a few things for early credit, and this can easily be one of them. Right now she is also taking piano, Monart art classes at a Baptist School (the class has...

Re: Sneak Peek #11: New World Geography Guide
Thank you for sharing about the Latin inclusion in the later guide. It is nice being able to know that will be an option. I've always wanted to take a stab at Latin with the girls, and until all the high school credit research of late I had never heard of Linney's materials. My 13yo and I skimmed ov...

Re: High School Foreign Language?
We are planning to start German, and there isn't much out there for that one. I want to buy a set from Living Language but have been waiting to see Carrie's recommends in the high school guide sneak peaks. However, that elective hasn't popped up yet. I've dabbled a little using my old Berlitz materi...

Re: Algebra
Thank you for sharing that. After my dd is done with Math Essentials, I think I should have her look at VT before making a decision on what to go with next.

This sounds awesome, and quite fun. I can only imagine that it ends up to be quite a collection after 4 years. Very cool!
I pray we will be able to incorporate some artifact sketches. My girls enjoyed seeing people doing just that on our first visit to the art museum last week.
