Re: World Geography English 1 vs Fund Lit & Engl/Comp
Hi Murph! The options for English are which components you're selecting to use. So, you can do all of the English exactly as written (Grammar using Rod & Staff, Writing using EIW, and Literature Study using BJU + literature books) and give your student 1 credit. Alternatively, you can choose to only...

Re: High School Grammar Plan
Thanks for the reply, Julie. In reading through your response, I wonder if maybe I wasn't as clear as I thought I was being. When I said that R&S7 would be overkill for him, I meant that he's already covered that material through his other grammar courses. He's had plenty of diagramming, so l...

Re: Preparing- deluxe vs. extension
The Extension set is designed to be added in addition to the Self-Study Deluxe History Package, so they would also read the Self-Study books as well. It extends the learning for older students. In the back of the guide, there is a reading schedule for the extensions as well as ideas for narrations, ...

Re: When kids are combined- do you purchase 2 Guides
If you think your girls can move at the same pace fairly consistently, I'd say one guide in a central location could work just fine. My kids use those translucent sticky tabs on each box. When they complete a box, they move the tab to the same box on the next day's page. That way, the sticky tabs al...

Re: Goals for the Week
Thanks for the boost, Norrfam! After feeling like I was floundering the last couple years, I realized I hadn’t sat down and thought through any personal goals at the beginning of the year like I had in years past. This year, I set some goals in various areas that I want to work toward, but I like th...

High School Grammar Plan
This next year, my eldest will rejoin us with HOD, having done through AO7/8. As such, we've not used R&S with him at all. I'm considering our grammar plan and wondering if I might get some input. So far, he's had: 4th grade: Grammarland (learned all the parts of speech) 6th & 7th: Easy Grammar Plus...

Re: Interest in Reviving the Board?
What I've found helpful is to subscribe to the main board so that I get an email every time something new is posted. It's essentially no different than my (now-deleted) FB app notifying me of a new comment/post. :-) **To subscribe to the board for notifications: Go to the Main Board. Scroll down to ...

Re: Week 1 of New Guides
Stephanie, So sorry to hear about the rough week! Our school week had a major bump in the road as well, quite unexpectedly. Tuesday afternoon, one of our base workers (a national employed on our small mission base and a dear brother in Christ) fell from a ladder while tree-trimming and nearly severe...

Re: Fear the loss of Family time, but we need consistency
Oh, Bijou, praying for you as you navigate this! Our family has managed to still have a daily together time where we sing a hymn and folksong (we learn one each month) and do a read aloud of some sort. Sometimes it’s a HOD Storytime book, sometimes it’s just something I pick. It’s only about 30 minu...

Re: Week 1 of New Guides
Norrfam, that must be a sweet encouragement to your mama heart to have a week that went so well! We came back to HOD from Ambleside at various points during last semester. Our days were beginning to get fairly monotonous and our family was at a point that I couldn’t put in the time to keep things go...

Re: New Edition and Notebooking Pages for Preparing?
Thanks, RookieAce! Just saw them on the website and they look lovely! I also saw Carrie's recommendation to use the new guide with the two new sets of notebook pages. But, I have a question... In looking at the preview photo and comparing the notebook sets with my OLD Preparing guide, it looks like ...

Re: MeWe?
I'm just recently a part of it, but it's nothing like this board or even the FB boards. It seems it's more a "Mom's Hangout" where they chat about all sorts of random/life things; in looking back at old posts, it's not at all a "how to HOD" board. I vote for reinvigorating this one!!!

Re: New Edition and Notebooking Pages for Preparing?
Any updates on when these are coming? Last I was told it was supposed to be end of December, but now we're at the end of January and still no news! My youngest is already looking forward to beginning Preparing!

Re: Reviving forums
I agree! I really appreciated so much of this forum years ago when it was so active and we were new to HOD! You’re definitely not the only one. I removed the FB app from my phone a month or so ago and it’s made a HUGE difference in what I focus my time on daily! Even just the simple act of having to...
