Re: Geometry: A Guided Inquiry

Well, I ordered a used copy of the textbook. I really like the looks of it and the scheduling makes a lot more sense with the text book to look through. I started working through the Shortest path problem with my son and he said that he would pick the spot on the river closest to the tent because th...

Re: Geometry: A Guided Inquiry

Thanks, Julie!
My son doesn't know right now what he wants to pursue in the future so it's hard to know sometimes which direction to go. :)

Re: Geometry: A Guided Inquiry

Thanks for the replies! I was thinking that switching to another curriculum for Geometry is probably not a big deal. Doesn't even HOD do that? I think my son would do great with any program so I'm not too concerned about him not doing well. I am more concerned with teacher involvement. I do like the...

Geometry: A Guided Inquiry

Hi, I'm wondering how this went for those who used it. How was the workload? How did your child like it? I've seen the posts here by Carrie and Julie and they were very helpful. Julie said that her son worked the Central Problem section with the teacher. Is that how others have done it? And I also h...

Re: SM 6A/6B straight into Foerster's Alg 1?

My son went into Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1 from SM 6B and he did great. I know that isn't as challenging as Foerster's. I think I read that one of Julie's sons went into Foerster's after SM 6B. Hopefully, somebody with more experience can answer you.

Re: Week in Review May 12-16, 2014

I enjoyed reading your update! We finished up MtM recently, too. My son loved his year. My son also loved the evolution science book. He was looking forward to it all year. :D He is also still finishing up Algebra 1. He's been doubling up on lessons so he should finish soon.

Re: Math help-What after TT Algebra 1?

You're probably right about the scheduling. I just assumed that there would be a schedule, but if there isn't one in the World Geography guide, then there probably isn't one in the World History guide. :)

Re: Math help-What after TT Algebra 1?

Thanks StefanieU!
Right now my son has no idea what he wants for the future. Maybe after we do TT Algebra 2 and Geometry we will have a clearer picture about the future and can make our decision from there concerning higher math.

Re: Math help-What after TT Algebra 1?

Thanks, StillJulie. I guess I read that it's better to do Geometry first to give the student more time before he got into the harder concepts in Algebra 2, so I got a little scared of that route. But since he did great in Algebra 1 he probably would not have a problem. And maybe because I loved Geom...

Math help-What after TT Algebra 1?

My son just finished Teaching Textbooks Algebra 1. He did really well and enjoyed it. He will be in 9th grade next school year. I like the looks of Carrie's plans for Geometry using Geometry A Guided Inquiry and the Math without Borders DVDs. However he will be in the World Geography guide and so I ...

I'm so sorry. Praying for healing and grace for you. It sounds extremely difficult, but I know God's grace is sufficient even through our darkest times.

Re: CTC Watercolor Tutorials All in One Place.

Thanks! We've done CtC one time and plan to do it again the year after this coming one. It will be nice to have finished paintings for my son to look at. I'm not sure if we'll look at them before or after, but I like seeing how other people have done the watercolors. :D

Re: Rev to Rev or MMTM?

Did you notice the first part of The Story of the World is skipped in the MtM guide and also the first part of All American History? It is about 12 chapters in each book. I am planning on having my boy read this before he starts the school year because he is also skipping Rev to Rev. I am also sad a...
