I have thought about what will happen when (and if) our book starts to fall apart. It may be possible to put each page in a page protector and insert them into a large binder. Then, you would have your cover slipped into the flap on the outside of the binder, and all of the pages should hold up well...

I feel your pain, MamaMary! That's how life works sometimes, isn't it? I'm very proud of you for exercising patience. Sending you warm thoughts and a gentle hug to hold you until you CAN order. You can make it!

There is an amazing difference in the children who have never attend PS and those who have. Our youngest never went to pre-school or anything. He spent a few months in a daycare setting while I worked. But he is so excited about learning, and he picks up so much. My oldest is not using HOD this year...

I have a B&N membership card that gets me a 20% or 25% discount each time I make a purchase. (I can't remember which it is!) There is a yearly fee, but if you buy a lot of stuff from them it's worth it. BTW, our B&N has a USED book section with great prices. If yours has one, it's worth the time to ...

Also for a small fee, I think PayPal will send the money directly to your bank account. Then you could send Carrie a check or use your debit card? You'll have to read the PayPal policy to find out for sure. :)

Home Management Binder

There is a site I visit occasionally; a fellow homeschool mom's blog. She has an entire series on setting up what she calls a Home Management Binder. I set one up and I love the way it has helped me to get organized. I still have many sections that I need to tweak and work on, but it's been a HUGE h...

Carrie, Thanks- I really love to write. As a young girl I wrote poems, but it's been a very long time since I've tried that! I'm hoping that this blog will help me keep a record of our days and family, but will also help me to get in a little writing every day. The dinner was scrumptious! Stop by my...

I like the binder for all the reasons you listed. And my kids do, too. It frustrates them when their paper won't lie flat. Plus, a sheet of paper fits on a clipboard to take with to ice skating lessons, trips, grocery store, etc. and you won't risk losing the whole book if it gets left behind-only t...

Congratulations on your new "expected" little one!

Whether or not you decide to use a formal program or not, there are other things you can do to help your 3yo learn. If you have any objects to use for sorting, put those in baggies or tupperware and let her sort by color, shape, etc. You could make some flash cards (www.beginningreading.com) and hav...

Hello Ladies!

Thank you for your compliments on my children and my Blog. :) I did not think I was a 'Blogger' either because I am NOT a technical kind of gal. I've mentioned to my husband that we should check into it a few times, but neither of us had ever done it. When I did check it out on Monday(?) I had a sit...

This is way beyond where I am right now since my oldest chid

is only 10. But I'm wondering....if your sisters, yourself, and your mother were all teachers for years, and homeschool now, are there any thoughts on extending into High School with the HOD product? I'm thinking you could all collaborate on that, too, and come up with wonderful plans. It would be s...

This is one of the reasons we are homeschooling!

My husband has been in 4 locations since Fall, 2005. We (temporarily) moved to Va from Fl in September of 2005 on a field assignment my husband accepted. Although we had a verbal agreement with the company it would be no shorter than 3 months, the contract did not state this and we only spent 8 week...

Family Blog- Please visit

Hi everyone! I just wanted to let everyone know that my family has started a Blog. We are living so far from family and friends that we thought it would be a great way to keep everyone up-to-date. I've learned so much and gotten so much help from all of you that I feel you're 'family' too. :) So, pl...
