Re: Ress to Reform Map Quest printing help please

I just finished printing mine last night. It's quite a few. I think it is pretty much all of the maps. You need to print a copy of the student map for each student. You don't have to print off the teacher map but the student will have to look at it on the computer if you don't so I chose to print th...

Re: Successful first day!

Awesome! That sounds like a great first day and great timing for all you have going on. I love that you had some family fitness time too. I keep thinking we need to incorporate that into our day especially for me! I'm still in the schedule planning phase so that's something I'll have to ponde...

Re: Drawn into the Heart of Reading--Am I missing something?

On day 15, the student would read the last pages of their book for that genre. If you read the details in the TM on day 15, you'll see that it says for the student to read their assignment. You would discuss the project that you will be doing over the next 5 days. Then days 16-18, they work on their...

Re: Drawn into the Heart of Reading--Am I missing something?

No the order that you decide to read the books within a genre or which genre to begin with are up to you. You can do them in the order that they are listed in the DITHR book or any other order you prefer. Are you doing the history set or the boy set for your story time with CTC? If you are doing the...

Re: DITHOR & Read Aloud ???'s

Yes, you are correct that the classic set is your storytime, read aloud set. Ben and Me would be the book you read for the first 4 weeks which is in the biography genre. For DITHOR, you can start with any genre you want and you will have your twins read the book(s) you choose for that genre. You may...

Re: Priimary Math Teacher Guides

I really things depends on your level of comfort. I just responded to similar post here: http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=14107 In any case I think that the HIGs are really more of a reference tool. I felt like the textbooks were good at explaining the problems but occasionall...

Re: Singapore math 5?

It depends on how comfortable you are with math and the Singapore method of teaching thing,s especially bar graphs. I made it through all of Singapore Primary without the HIG but I am a mathy person and there was at least one instance in every book from 4A on that I had to scratch my head and ponder...

Re: A Few Questions about CTC before beginning....

1) For the research, I usually let them do the research part themselves then during our meeting time, I would ask them the questions and they would orally answer them. I would usually alternate asking the first question to one, the second to the other, back and forth. Sometimes I would have the seco...

Re: Read-Aloud Question

Wow, I can imagine that is very difficult for him! As I was reading your post I was thinking to myself how it would be for me to have someone read aloud a book in Spanish or German to me. I have studied both of these languages in the past but haven't been in a situation where they are spoken around ...

Re: BHFHG art supplies?

I don't remember all of the supplies we used for Bigger, but for the most part they were all common things we had around the house. I do remember masking tape being something I was looking for often. As far as paint, I found the Crayola kids washable paints worked really well for most of our art pro...

Re: Singapore question

If you use the hands on lessons that are in the math box, then you just do those and then follow-up with the scheduled workbook pages. No textbook is needed. The teaching is done through the hands on lessons. :D
