Re: Please help me decide - Bigger or Preparing???

Glad you are choosing Bigger! It's such a wonderful program and really prepares the kiddos for Preparing. I was nervous about going into PHFHG this year but my dc have flourished! Bigger really helped them, so I encourage you to do evrything the manuals says and most of all ENJOY learning with your ...

Re: Questions about Preparing with 2 Students

I have a ds9 and dd8 in Preparing and I read the history to them both even though the ds9 would be fine doing it on his own. It keeps the two of them together and we have good dicussion with having various opinions to ponder. Also, many times they work on science the science experiment together. I d...

Re: Question for those that have children close together

My 6yr is in LHFHG and my 4yr in LHTH. I let my 4yr join in on the Burgess books but he's not allowed to answer any questions and has to sit quietly or he loses the priviledge. As far as the history readings go, the 4yr is usually playing with the younger kiddos but occasionally he sits in. Again, h...

Re: In Little Hearts and VERY frustrated with a 7yo and 6yo

How is the rest of LHFHG going? Is it just the storytime box they are struggling with? If so, could you possibly just stop where you are at with the storytime box and finish up the rest of LHFHG and then continue with the Burgess books next year when you start Beyond? or work just on the storytime b...

Re: If you are combining 2 children into 1 guide...

I've been combining my oldest dc since starting HOD back with LHTH. We are now in PHFHG and it's has work wonderful every year. My dc are only 15months apart so they are doing everything the same; ie math, english, dictation. I do like what the pp said about realizing one dc might out excel another ...

Re: Planning on starting LHFHG but I have a few ???

Sounds like you can do LHFHG with the 1st grade options. I would purchase the Beyond guide and follow Carrie's hands-on activities for the math. As far as reading goes, there are additional title suggestions for the E.R. set. You could choose to go through those to reinforce both reading skills and ...

It's A Girl!

On January 8th we welcomed our new baby girl, Zion Elizabeth, into the family. She was born at home in the water after a very easy, peaceful and quick labor! 9lbs 14oz, 20.5in long. She is as sweet as can be and we are all enjoying her very much :D :D :D

Re: Questioning Science for next year

My kiddos have LOVED the science in PHFHG and I have LOVED the independence!! Right now they are doing the constellations and anytime we are out at night they are looking at the stars and trying to indentify any of the constellations. It's such a blessing for me to see how much they love discovering...

Re: Looking ahead to Preparing and some questions...

My dd and ds are both doing Preparing together this year. They both do their own timelines and do it independently. I wanted them to both learn the skill of reading from the manual and completing a project independently for CTC, so that's why I chose to do it this way. My dd hangs her on the wall an...

Re: Can a 4 year old do LHFHG???

I started my dd4 and dd5 with LHFHG at the same time as well. We had already gone through LHTH and she was ready. I didn't have any real problems until getting to BHFHG. So I just slowed down and did 1/2 pace with both of them. It worked great! The extra time for both to grow into skills and maturit...

Re: The Sword In The Tree

I have not read this book but the wonderful thing about HOD is that you can easily substitute this book with another of your choice if you feel it won't work for your family. Another option would be to use it as a great tool to point out to your son another boy who thinks he is wiser than his author...
