Re: Bedtime Stories

The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones is a great bedtime read, and it is a different Bible from the ones used in HOD so that changes things up a bit. I cannot remember, but I think you mentioned you have boys. If not (or even for some others out there), the original Raggedy Ann and Raggedy ...

Re: Roll Call - When are you all starting?

Hope y'all have a great start to a fantastic year! (y'all= you can take me out of Texas, but you can't take the Texas out of me! ) That is funny! Actually, you can tell I'm from the south as I read "y'all" (spelled correctly I might add) in your post, and I didn't even notice! We've been try...

Re: First day of full speed LHFHG and my 25 month old...

My 5 year old dd is sooooo distracted by her brother and HE KNOWS and thinks it's GREAT! I may try the gate at the bedroom door! He hasn't been in a crib since 18 months. I think he will play in his room. Maybe I can get a special something for him to play on with his cars...hmmm.... He doesn't do ...

Re: First day of full speed LHFHG and my 25 month old...

Great question! There are some great ideas on this forum somewhere that I think Carrie and Julie have posted on. Just not sure I can find them now. I also have children the same ages as yours though mine are both girls so that does make things a little different. But, I cannot do LHFHG with my oldes...

Re: LHTH Bible Question

glperky - I don't think you caused any problems! If anything, my responses probably made everything very confusing! I am sorry for the confusion!!! Carrie did make an excellent point about different children's Bibles teaching different things. I didn't even think about that when I responded, but now...

Re: LHTH at 5 yo

I've been reading through these posts, and I wanted to give you something else to consider. I also struggled with where to place my 5 yo last year (who will be 6 yo this October). I finally decided on LHTH though she would have probably done just fine with LHFHG. I think God was actually helping me ...

Re: LHTH Bible Question

Doesn't The Beginner's Bible go with one of the HOD guides also? Do you mind me asking why you picked 101 Favorite Bible Stories? Thanks! lissiejo answered your first question. :D We haven't gotten to the emerging readers set yet, but I am hoping it won't matter since it will be her reading it at t...

Re: LHTH Bible Question

Do you already read and does he comprehend The Beginner's Bible (or the other one)? Does he like that Bible? I started LHTH with my oldest when she turned 5, and I personally found the Bible recommended in LHTH to be a little young for my 5 yo. Though she was probably ready for LHFHG at that point (...

Re: LHTH Bible Question

How old is the child? Do you have another children's Bible available? If so, which one(s) do you have?

Re: Decided, Now What?

I would recommend enforcing a quiet time for the non-schooling child while you are working with the schooling child. So while you work on LHTH with your 4 yo, the 6 yo could have some quiet time in his room. He could also join in if you think he would be quiet during the lessons (though my 5 yo woul...

Re: U.S edition for Singapore K?

Earlybird K was full color, A and B (separately) and cost $24 each. They had short lessons on the bottom of the page which were more suited to a classroom. Picture of kids on a blanket flying kites on cover. I cannot tell you for certain, but I did just purchase the LHFHG guide with the Earlybird K...

Re: Prayer for schooling

We have just started our homeschooling journey with our oldest 5.5 yo, so I cannot offer up any advice for homeschooling vs. public schooling, but I will definitely pray for you! As I read your e-mail, my heart did ache for what you must be feeling and going through right now. I, myself, do question...

The Reading Lesson Pace

I was just curious how others structure their lessons with The Reading Lesson . We are currently on Lesson 4. The book says that the lessons should be repeated for the first three lessons, but it doesn't say anything else regarding the lessons after Lesson 3. I've been making my DD repeat each lesso...

Re: Dawdling Child Drags out Lessons

Gwenny - I didn't think you were being too harsh at all! :) I love getting advice from other moms who have been there! And I especially love the honesty and helpful advice on this forum. I'd pick your brain on many parenting issues if time allowed. But I'll save that for another day. And, yes...
