Getting Started With Spanish
My 2 boys are using Getting Started with Spanish. How much time should be spent practicing the words? They are also listening to the commentaries and are wondering if they should be doing the exercises in the book first before they listen to them. They found today that when they listened to the comm...

Re: Storing Old Curriculum
I use plastic totes that stack well in our storage area. It works well. I also use it for the current year to prevent pre-reading of new curriculum. Our shelves are full of books they can re-read that are far enough down the road or finished. In August I purchase and pull books from the shelves for...

Could someone please tell me how it works using HOD in OHIO? We are praying about moving there and I'm learning requirements to homeschool in OH. For the end of the year assessment I would probably opt not to do achievement tests. So how does it work to show what they've learned in each subject? I w...

Re: Grading a younger guide for a high schooler
They called back. There was some confusion on both sides. They have 3 discount programs that you can use. The good student program required the standerdized test score and is used by high schoolers and college students. Then they have a Steer Clear program for young drivers ( which is what we will m...

Re: Grading a younger guide for a high schooler
OH! I see! thanks for that info. Now, here where we live, the school district does standard testing at certain grades. They don't test every year. His last test was at 8th grade and will be tested once more in 11th, a year from now in April. So, I wonder how that will work. I guess we will have to a...

Re: I wish I had the guts to leave HOD for a year!
LOL! Really! wish I had the nerve to put them in a exceedingly boring, rigorous, killjoy program for just one year so that they would BEG for HOD again! It probably wouldn't even take a year. But then if they were like mine, they might actually LIKE what I thought was boring, rigorous, killjoy!! I f...
