Re: Transcript help
Hi LeAnna, I totally understand where you are coming from. I am graduating my first homeschool student this year and I had to learn everything from square one. One thing that helped me was to understand that the transcript is (usually) a condensed one page document consisting primarily of your stude...

Re: Algebra II suggestions?
Tabitha,
I am not sure if TabletClass is CommonCore aligned. It works well for our daughter so we would use it regardless of that detail. You can try emailing Mr. Zimmerman to ask. He was quick to get back to me when I had questions about the program.

Re: Algebra II suggestions?
If you like CTC you may want to check out TabletClass Math. My daughter has done well with it. She used the geometry class last year and said she definitely wanted to stick with it for Algebra II. If you like the looks of the program, sign up for their email newsletter and you should get a link to o...

Re: Introverted personality & HOD..
My kids and I recently took a personality test just for fun. My results said I was a 98% introvert! I knew I was a keep to myself kind of gal, but 98%...wow. I need space too. I don't know what ages you are working with, but HOD moves toward independence for the child with each guide. My son...

Re: Advice on No-Nonsense Algebra
Hi Michelle, I hope you have a great first year homeschooling! I also hope the No Nonsense Algebra works for your son. I wanted to share that my daughter tried to use No Nonsense Algebra this summer. She is usually pretty good at math, but this program was frustrating for her to try to use because s...

Re: Need HS Portfolio Building Advice From Experienced Moms
Thanks again for your responses. I am finding that almost all schools we look at have different requirements. Some are very homeschool friendly and some seem to be weary of homeschoolers and require more from them. It is frustrating, but something we have to deal with. I find that the women on this ...

Re: Need HS Portfolio Building Advice From Experienced Moms
Thanks for all the comments and advice. It is desperately needed. The community colleges I've looked into only require a transcript of their junior and senior year and a compass test before admission. The college that is an extension of our university system is close to home and is the one th...

Need HS Portfolio Building Advice From Experienced Moms
I have one daughter who I am graduating this coming year, so I am beginning to work on her portfolio. This is the first time I have had to put a portfolio together, so I am a little lost all around honestly. She was home-schooled mostly eclectically because I could not find a program that fit what I...

Re: Praise for the WG guide
Thank you so much for posting this. I come here almost daily to see if anyone has posted anything on the highschool guides to see if I can gain insight and be more prepared for the years we have ahead. My girls will be using the WG guide this upcoming year. I think no matter how much you research a ...

Re: Has Anyone Used the VideoText or HS Math Options?
Thanks for the input, ladies. Nealewill, I know exactly what you mean about preferring a book approach. I do think I am leaning towards the videotext for my son though, just to have the benefit of visual explanations. I also like that they provide the notes for you. I think that will be really helpf...

Hi Mamochka5,
Sorry ,I don't have any advice for you, but I do have a question.
I am not "mathy" either. I am wondering if you used Forester's Algebra I successfully with your student?

Re: New Member: Question About Use of Extensions
My dd will be 15 this fall and places solidly in the World Geography guide. She will be completing Alg I this fall. She is a high achieving student who learns easily and can concentrate for very long periods of time. I have no doubt she could do even the most challenging math course as long as it is...

Has Anyone Used the VideoText or HS Math Options?
I am not a math oriented person. I am very comfortable with all things Language Arts. Past some basic algebra, however, I am no help to my kids in this subject. I would really like comments from anyone who has used the Highschool math options for HOD. I have three children who will be using HOD for ...

Thanks so much. I didn't want to overwhelm my son if the extensions were meant to be done alone. I really appreciate the information.

New Member: Question About Use of Extensions
Although my son has used the CTC program, I am new to the board. I will be using two HOD guides next school year(WH & either Rev to Rev or MTMM). I am getting many questions answered by reading the posts here. I do have a question I haven't seen browsing yet. We did not use HOD last year so I am sti...
