Re: Day One Went Very Well! Six guides...

It just about makes me cry to think that today will be the last day (ever) of "Leap, Leap to North America." Five out of my six kids still act it out each morning. LOL (So I think even if it is the last official school day of it, I'll still hear it from time to time... just like "A, A, Adam, can you...

Key to Algebra by Key Curriculum Press makes a consumable workbook that covers them very well. That's what we use.

Day One Went Very Well! Six guides...

I'm sure it helps that this is our seventh year of HOD.

The older kids are getting more and more independent.

I can never express enough gratitude to Carrie and her family for these guides. They are such a blessing to us!

Re: Getting Ready to Start up again

August 17th here!

I've been inserting notebook pages into page protectors, copying map treks, locating books, etc. Big job for six different guides!

Box Times for the World History Guide

I'm trying to plan our upcoming year. Is there a post that suggests how long each box in the guide should take to complete? If so, please link me. I can't pull it up with the different searches I've tried.

We completed through Chapter 8 of Foerster's Algebra 2 before breaking for summer. It's been going well for us!

This looks so excellent! I'm really excited. I'd never heard of this company or program before (and I especially like the price :P )

Re: Large family moms - combining question

Julie, good tips in there for me too :D It is sometimes hard to figure out how to mesh everyone's work. I too have found so much relief in realizing it is okay to have the kids be responsible for chores and helping eachother. It never crossed my mind to *not* have them do chores and help each other...

Re: Spiral binding the student notebooks

I haven't... we're a page protector 3-ring binder sort of family.

I'm not sure if the pages are think enough to stand up to that format well. Would the 3 hole punch interfere with stability? You might want a heavier cover and back page at least...

Re: Large family moms - combining question

Another thing... I would definitely assign some of those middle kids to "little kid duty" keeping them occupied and out of your way for stretches of time where you can work without constant interruptions. My fifth grader is wonderful at that. My oldest can be, but she usually has too much of her own...

Re: Large family moms - combining question

Julie, can you post or send me a copy of your schedule? I don't believe there is any way that I could run that many guides, especially with three preschoolers/ toddlers running around. Every minute that I'm occupied with a big kid is a minute that they need to be supervised. I am not highly structu...

Re: Large family moms - combining question

I teach my six all separately, and it does make for long days... especially since I often do the extension readings too since we enjoy the books so much. I'm also reading the Living Library to my oldest b/c she missed Storytime so much. I just really cherish this time with my kiddos and know that it...

If he's doing Beyond this year, I would definitely not skip ahead to Preparing. I think Bigger would be a great fit.
