Re: Prioritizing school/outside activities - advice?
I have 2 in public school, 1 homeschooled. They all get up normal time, eat, and when the other 2 leave for school, he begins his school too. We keep going until he is done. We do stop for a snack, or lunch if hungry. Usually, we get done by lunchtime, and then we can do fun things. It's really not ...

Re: Decisions???!!!
Have you looked at the chart? I have found that chart to be a REALLY good match to my son's skills. I wanted to put him in Preparing NOW, but he's just not there yet, the chart put him in Bigger and it has been perfect for his abilities. Where are your kids falling on the chart? I'd use that as a de...

Re: Those of you with special needs kids. Kind of long sorry!
They were wrong to question you, accuse you of not giving the kids what they need. I'm sorry they did that. Yes, I've had teachers tell me similar, accuse me of similar with my special needs son. ANd my answer has always been FIRM-- "NOBODY cares more about my child's physical, mental and education ...

Re: Can We Share Our HOD Tips Again?! (Big Smile)
My biggest thing that we do is his hardest subjects FIRST. For him, that is Language arts, then math. IF he knows that the other subjects are coming, he has a good attitude and does his work. If we do the others first, he pouts, he stalls, he tries everything he can to get out of doing the work. It ...

Re: Just an intro and a ?
WOOHOO! A question I have experience in~ I have an 8 year old (just turned 9) using Bigger. We did BEYOND the code-- which is part of explode the code, perfect for his age too. We have math mammoth, which we are doing in addition to Singapore math. He really needs the extra math with his LD's. Combi...

Re: Free Reading
I just have my son reading a series about a dyslexic boy. It's very clean no bad morals, no bad words... written by Harry Winkler (FONZIE! LOL) Perfect for my dyslexic son-- helps him feel like someone else is where he is. We're on book 5 so far. When we finish that series (Hank Zipzer), I'll find a...

Re: Give your opinion: Science in future guides
You mean after Preparing?? Ok, well- I gotta say, I'd love to get rid of the One Small Square books... sorry, I just don't care for them. I'm sure it's just me, they're good books, I just never cared for them. I'd love to see more hands on stuff. Simple things, using household stuff, but a little mo...

Re: How do I fix this???
We had beyond for his younger brother, and he enjoyed it, but Bigger is a better match for 99% of it And thank you, I appreciate the support. I'm trying to find a better math, or a supplemental math, or something to ehlp him in math. The english/grammar is workable, we can adjust and or just push th...

How do I fix this???
First, this is about my son, and his abilities. His Learning Disabilities (dyslexia, dysgraphia, fine motor skills). He's smart, but some things just don't reach him. And I'm frustrated. And feel like a failure. He's come sooo far, but now we're stuck, and I dont know how to fix it. He's currently d...

Re: Help w/ Choosing Resources for my special learners
Welcome! I also have a son that is a medical wonder. He has things the doctors say are impossible too! LOL I tell my son all the time that God makes us all unique, and he made my Ben REALLY unique! Anyway, as a mom of a visual learner with issuses (different kid though), my BEST advice is to not hav...
