OT: Having a hard time getting back into school
Some of you may remember my dh was home for two weeks of leave a couple weeks ago. Thank you for your prayers. He had several delayed flights on the way home and a wonderful gentleman gave up his seat for his last flight here after our very specific prayer for someone to give him his seat! We had a ...

Re: About Classical
I loved Carrie's comparison when I read it awhile back. I didn't re-read it today, so I hope I'm not contradicting anything in it. I was thinking that another way to approach the Classical vs. CM discussion (and I agree with others that there is much over lap between the two!) might be to consider h...

Re: Slowly, slowly, slowly getting behind
Hi Florence, I see you have four guides going - you are amazing! I don't know if you've ever posted your schedule.... I didn't search for it. If you're like me, you possibly start off with the youngest while they are fresh and get them finished first. I wonder if you and your oldest could do some of...

Re: CTC questions & behavioral issues
Thank you all for your help and compassion! :D The links were helpful, and I think I do need to be more patient!! We had a great day today. Ds was on task, completed everything in record time :D :D and I think I figured out where we are losing time. I gave him a schedule and let him write do...

Re: Need help with ds 9's negativity
I think your unbelievably perceptive Mom! You know how you feel when you have heart burn and sickness. Yucky! Yet ds has what sounds like a chronic illness. Yes it stinks but yes you have to live with it like millions of others. But they get so hyper aware and its the little things that over whelm ...

May He grant you wisdom to know how to handle your daughter's schooling, and may He enable you to experience His grace in th...

OT: Dh has leave next week....
My dh has been deployed since February and he will be here next week for two weeks of leave! I had NO idea how much that would effect getting school done THIS week. We are ALL ready to be DONE for the week - myself included! Help! Well, I don't really want help, I want permission to hang it up, LOL....

Wow! It sounds great! Am I the only one who wishes I could buy a package for myself long before my kids get to it?    I mean I have time to do my own package now that I'm no longer researching every possible curriculum woe.... I could just add myself to the signature... L...

You might check your library for the "Come Look With Me...." series (there's a book on landscapes, children, animals, etc.). Each book has several prints to look at with a few questions for each one.

Re: How do you do 3 guides at once?
Tracey, I don't consider myself experienced enough to help.... but I think I've read on other threads that some people combine for storytime. For example if you have more than one guide telling you to select a biography for storytime, just select one biography and read it to both students. The other...

http://www.heartofdakota.com/board3/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=640&hilit=poor+richard Donna, the above linked thread is a older discussion of beefing up Bigger for a student older than the extensions. If you scroll down to Carrie's post, she has added an update about some of the resources to be used in the...

Re: Possibly Beefing up Bigger....
Carrie, As always, your advice is right on! As I'm trying to plan my ds's week for next week, I realize he *could* do the reading I had in mind, but he would be crunched for time to do narrations, notebooking, etc. (I'm so bad about only thinking about reading and not the pondering and the output!) ...

Yay! That is fantastic. I bet it will continue getting better and better. I read your original thread, but didn't know what advice to give. You got lots of great advice from the other ladies and Carrie's response to you there was so encouraging. Kudos to you for persevering!
